I go away offshore tomorrow, phone less, and a severe addiction to glue sniffing!

Hang your heads in shame Nokia UK..

Saying that the glue sniffing has past the time.

Exactly. That date was pure BS to calm the masses and to buy themselves more time it seems. Prove me wrong, Nokia.

So they are putting out fake press releases, just to calm down a few people on a board? With nokia being a public company?

So you are basically accusing them of fraud?

Neat one.

I'm sorry to have to connect the dots for you...
1. we say we're shipping
2. no one has received a shipment a week later (unless they're bringing back the pony express, SOMEONE should have received it by now)
3. ????
4. fraud!

You can give them a vague ballpark, and hope you hit it, but with the uncertainty of traffic, weather, that accident on the m5 and a couple of tractors, the chances are you'll be wide of the mark.

You can make a worst case estimate, give them that and then hang around in the playing park opposite their house till the time you said you'd arrive. (Which is roughly what most manufacturers do - someone has already said that the big release video game recently was preceded by days of it piled up in stores Not For Sale).

Or you can call them up and say "I'm now leaving" and hope they can be mature enough to make a guess about when you'll arrive and be flexible about the possible transport complications.

Which is more or less what Nokia did. Peter's comment was your n900 calling you from Korea and saying "I'm now leaving". I guess it just got stuck behind a tractor somewhere on the High Seas.

Try as you must, there is no defence for this BS Launch. I just looked outside, there are all these holes in my lawn. Ohh Look, they're full of DROIDS!

HTC?, Apple?, it can be done.

BTW Do you want to entertain us with what do you do there beside sniffing glue?

Bon voyage.

Yes, sure. If you keep development and testing completely closed. Would you prefer that? I know I don't.

That has nothing to do with anything. Nokia should have just waiting until after getting developer feedback before announcing a release timeframe.

I have no idea why you're so eager to defend the indefensible. Even at this stage in either a HTC or Motorola product launch the availability date is known. They don't bother to release information as useless as when they ship from their factories (because unsurprisingly nobody cares) but they do tell you when it's showing up in shops.
