Re: New members say hello !
I'm from Bangalore India and bought my N900 a month back. I'm lovin it!!!
Nokia didnt release their previous NITs in India and I was all set to buy an N97 one evening and it rained heavily that day. Next day I see the N900 as 'coming soon' in Nokia's India website. Waited patiently and finally got my hands on it! I didn't know there was a new members thread so my apologies for being a little late here :). You guys rock!!! |
Re: New members say hello !
Sure, this is a great place to say hello. I figure I ought to post somewhere. Hope everyone'sdoing well.
On my mind is how to make some minor tweeks to my N900. I thought I'd start by editing my calander application. |

Hello
I've had my N900 for 2 weeks. So far I've kept it safe with my apps: enhanced linux kernel for power users (settings) mobilehotspot v0.3.3 cellular modem control buttons To monitor battery life, I just use the script: lshal | grep percentage |

Re: New members say hello !
Hello to all, picked up an N900 the first day of this month. I want to thank all who have made owning an N900 a better experience since it was introduced last year. I have been reading this site for about nine months now. Finally joined after receiving my N900. I have not retired my E71 but the N900 is real nice. Experimenting with Linux for about eight years now. Thanks, stay cool !

Re: New members say hello !
I started lurking around ITT at its begining. Ordered 770 from Nokia when it was available. N810 followed then N900.
I´m just end user without any programing skills. I dont like walled gardens so much. For a year or so, I have followed Tomi Ahonens blog "Communities dominate brands", thats where I get "my" numbers for mobile industry. I can read and understand english well, but cant produce gramatically correct text :o sorry. Thats why I haven´t registered before and been just lurking. Hello to all anyway! |

Re: New members say hello !
Hello People! I'm relatively new as well to this forum. I've owned an N900 since March and I love the community behind this phone. Makes it a joy and an ease to use. Now I'm trying to wrap my head around the potential dangers of mildly (?) overclocking the A8 to 850mhz, and at titan's lower voltage profile. Some of the overclock warnings out there are scary (electromigration, etc), but the improvements on the user experience side are great (3 days overclock so far). Decisions...

Re: New members say hello !
Hello everybody, I stumbled upon the N900 in a search of a "mini-netbook-smartphone hybrid" type device, I don't have the N900 yet, but judging by research on the device, I am very impressed by it. I may be new here, but I have lurked a bit and, as the guy above said, thanks for making the device such a powerhouse and being such a strong community! I hope I will end up being a good and helpful member to the community.

Hey guys, i've been lurking here since I got my n900 in august. However, I was an idiot and my phone fell into a beer so it's now dead :( The community here is great tho, lots of tips on how to make this awesome phone ever better. Hopefully I can get my hands on another one soon!

Re: New members say hello !
Bula! (Hello) from the Fiji Islands. New user of this site and n900. It's my first smartphone (still use my old Nokia 1200 for calls and use n900 as computer). Know very little bit about linux, ubuntu, maemo (use vista home premium since came installed on computer and mainly use computers for research and typing. Dataplans expensive so use uni wifi, thanks to this Maemo site was able to finally log in using n900
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...highlight=peap Have learned a lot from this community in short time (have had n900 for 3weeks) and updated to pr1.2, installed some *.deb files from maemo repository using help from this community (since before had no net on n900). Hope to learn more and get better and someday help others too. Am a simple computer user but help on this site makes me feel comfortable about n900. On windows I know how to install games and play, browse internet, use office and use discs to install windows if details and instructions are simple. Vinaka (thanks) Maemo community for being very helpful. |

Re: New members say hello !
I have been trawling this site as a guest for about 3 months, a month before i actually had the phone. Like most other noobs in here my Linux programming skills are limited (most of my work revolves around sql) but i am learning more and more everyday, and am loving every second.
Probably an unusual way to say hello but i'd like to thank all the people who are registered on this site who go out of their way to be informative and educational. Every question i have had when trying out new things i have been able to get answers for just by searching here. There has been no need to start threads "how do i....". So again thank you all, even alternative device's Fanboys (watching how frequently you get categorically slapped down is very entertaining and at times highly enlightening). Best Regards Stefan |

Re: New members say hello !
Hi from Melbourne Australia.
I'm thinking of buying the N900 but wonder if it's better to wait for it's successor. Chris |
I'm Back!!!
Hi. i'm not actually a new member, but joined when the n900 was new. In a moment of madness i parted company with my original n900, and have been jumping about between various android sets and the occasional iproduct, but i'm back.
From experience, i can now categorically say that if you're a bit of a geek, like myself, then the n900 is simply the best phone on the planet, period. I have noticed that sources here in the UK from where you can buy the n900 new seem to be drying up a bit, so i grabbed one quick along with a screen protector, because if there's one thing where the n900 is lacking, it's with soft screen (easily scratched). So, let the time consuming sport of modifying to the breaking point commence, again!! ;) |
