Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

OK, I 'might' have some news on this, at least from the Nokia direct order side of things..

After hearing about the delay from MPD to the end of the month, i rang them and they confirmed what others have been saying, but still wouldn't give a date.
I then rang Nokia and went through to sales and spoke the the guy there. Now this is just what he told me, about my order and I cant claim that it applies to anyone else.
When I enquired about ordering a phone - I was told, categorically, several times, that Nokia UK are not getting their n900's until Fri 20th.
I ordered a phone (see proof below) and with express delivery, I was told that I could expect delivery for Tues, maybe Wed if Im unlucky.
I enquired about getting it Mon, but was told that as they are taking delivery on Fri, then they would not be shipping it out until Mon, so delivery Tue/Wed to the customer
he was absolutely certain that they would not receive their n900's until Fri, he was also certain that they would have enough to fill ALL pre-orders and spare...

Hello Martin

Thank you for shopping at the Nokia UK Online Shop. We have received your new order. Please note that this Email is simply an update on your order status and not an Order Confirmation.

You will receive an Order Confirmation by email for all products once they are shipped.

Please be aware that your order may be subject to an additional security check before being sent.

The details for the order you placed on 17-11-2009 are shown below.

Order number CNLxxxxxxxxx

At least I have a date now and can now get back on with my life
And I have a spare n900 to sell now on ebay!

Hope this helps the people who have ordered direct from Nokia

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Hi edgedemon,

I can't believe Nokia anymore. Cause, according to them, my N900 would be in my hands since 3 or 4 weeks now. They told me that they have it in the hands and it would be shipped within this week.
That was... well... the 20th october I guess.

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

ok. this website displays the map of the port of MASAN.

Masan is the town in south korea where the n900's are manufactured. it has a port of which the website is down here:

http://www.uniprosmarine.com/port/port-masan.htm

so i think it is fairly safe to assume that the n900 will have departed from that port.

if you want to see the map of MASAN and the harbour on google maps, type in "nokia TMC" at the search function. it will guide you to the exact location of the factory.

Now if we CALL the port or the nokia TMC factory, there might be a way to figure out on which boat the N900 has departed.

Then we can use a ship tracker tool, which can be found on the internet to locate where the ship is now, or just call the port to ask them what the ETA of the ship is.

Nokia TMC Ltd.

8F 705 19 Yeoksam Dong
Seoul 135 080
Korea (South)

Tel: (82) 2 2186 5000

(nokia tmc in maps.google.com gives this : 055-290-7777‎ telephone number.)

country code for south korea is:

so 00 82 55 290 7777 should work since the country code is 82 and area code is 55.

the other number is in seoul which has are code 22 so that should be 00 82 22 186 5000

When asked when i would have the device in my hands i was told "next week or the week after i guess" MPD rep also confirmed that my N900 brought on T-mobile contract was unlocked and unbranded so at least i can be happy about that if not the delivery.

Cheers

Oh now I get it.. it's a ploy so that I don't get my phone before my birthday. Monday 30th it will arrive then. And it's my other half's fault.
That would be sort of 'late November' and also (hedging bets) early December- AND 14 days after shipping................................. sussed it.

As it would show on my bank account - all previous contracts (I order a few hundred a year at work) subtract a few pounds and put it back in again. Never once had a full credit check done? (Using personal and work accounts)

Also, they don't tend to do that until they a) have stock, and b) are ready to send it to the customer

Well thats what i think? :) - hope i'm wrong and it's all been completed secretly, and my n900 is at home waiting for me now :)

Nice vid- you know it occurred to me- in the last 3 days I've seen several N97 mini adverts on TV suddenly pop up. i wonder if Nokia are waiting for those to subside so they can do same for 900- I haven't seen a single advert anywhere for the N900- has anyone else?

All Nokia is doing by announcing the product shipped a week ago and not tell us they did it by boat is just causing the perception of more delay and people will begin canceling their orders and getting other "phones". They should have made the announcement at the point the product was inbound freight for their channel partners. It is VERY odd to announce at the point of delivery they have chosen.

It could be when all is said and done, the only main group of people that will keep their orders are the original gadget fans and techies that have been following the device all along.

Well, at least there will be less posts here for the techs to respond to ;)

Nokia has promised that it is released in November. There is still two weeks to go.

Nokia Finland Online Shop and Nokia UK Online Shop have both confirmed that handling/shipping (from Holland?) will start at the end of this week so lucky ones will get it by Friday or Monday.

Also it seems that Nokia will have one week exclusitivity for N900 so other retails and online shops will start selling it around 27.11.2009 unless they will defy Nokia's orders.

Nokia also promised it would be shipped by the end of September. Then they promised it would be shipped by the end of October. Your optimism is cute, though.

I do not recall that being the case. As far as I remember, Nokia never even estimated that the N900 would ship in September. They did originally estimate that it would ship in October, but that was most certainly not a promise. There has only been one delay for the N900.

Some people are micro-obsessing. My advice: stay sane, be happy, and don't blow the small stuff out of proportion. I think most of us are just having a good time staying connected while we follow the introduction of this revolutionary product. Nothing wrong with that as long as we don't let ourselves become frustrated.

I don't remember them saying they would ship be the end of September. Mid-end of Oct was the first date I ever heard/read.

Also, I don't get why people would cancel their pre-orders, either you want this phone or you don't. I do and so any delays, whilst a little frustrating, would not make me cancel my order. (The fact my case is being delivered as we speak also counts for something!lol)

They have never said anything about shipping in september, this is all rumours from unknown sources! Stop spreading it! Its been talked many times here allready, we dont need another 10 pages of BS about it. Thank you.

October was the first "promise" and they delayed it to end of November, which isnt even here! You got 2 weeks to go for it, so please be patient before going mental for nothing.

And if you gonna cancel, then cancel your pre-order and shutup. I dont care, so no need to spam it here and cry like babies...

Im sorry if I offended anyone, I just needed to let some hot air out! 80% of all post in these threads are starting to be annoying to read.

Perception is the issue. They should have stated end of the month and said nothing about it shipping last week. Consumers could care less about sell-in shipments from the factory- this supply chain event is transparent to consumers. All this did was add more perception of delay and that Nokia is clueless in PR.

Exactly. I would have no issue with a date that is a bit further out if it were FOR SURE. Were they trying to quell the masses by announcing that it was shipping? When it is ACTUALLY shipping, I'd expect many people in the world to have it the next day (for those who paid for the extra shipping expediency). We've seen exactly zero people posting that they have a production unit.

The problem isn't the delay it's the fact that Nokia can't be assed to say when it'll be out. Instead people have to guess based on retailer dates which are notoriously unreliable giving the impression of constant new delays.

Due to a complete reluctance to manage the flow information the talk isn't about the N900's capabilities but how how delayed it is and the lack of information surrounding it.

Ebay is a good metric too. At least one person who gets their order will be tempted to list it and there isn't a single non-preorder on there.
