So will Meego. Not to mention Nokia did say the N900 was Step 4 out of 5. Nevermind what their marketing/advertising arm says (seeing as how they don't seem to talk to each other).

In the amount of time people have spent on this thread speculating the release of a firmware, we could have written our own OS. Complete with portrait mode, video calling, MMS, integrated MSN etc etc.

I know everyone says that the N900 is step 4/5 but it would be nice to have assurance it will reach step 5. Whether that's updates to Maemo or switching to Meego is anyones guess.

You're misunderstanding what people mean by 4/5. N900 is step 4. The next Maemo (now Meego) device will be step 5.

I found it odd that the site of maemo there were so many people to make comments on the new firmware 1.2 and in the nokia forum did not exist even a comment.

Then leave a comment like this:

If you're losing sleep over a firmware update you *need* to step away from this phone and take a look around you and get a life.

I complain too to nokia by phone.I said to nokia that their service is not the same that in the past.(I bought n900 and two days after, one month to repair it with the pr 1.0).I said to them, that it's not normal to give us a phone with lot of bugs.They said to me that nokia is still the best.I didn't expect anymore from nokia, it's my last nokia phone...

I don't understand, nokia delivers around 1 bigger update every three months to the N900. Damn not even Android gets updates this often!

Compare it to SonyEricsson who almost never gives updates!:)

My dad once told me.. people will always find a way to complain about anything. He also told me, there's no way to please everyone.

People will be complaining about waiting for PR 1.3 when it comes out. And if the N900 gets Meego, they'll complain about that.

I honestly think what Nokia is doing is insane, delivering 1 major update every 3 months!! I would love to know who else is doing so!
How often do they update android? I remeber first 2.1 release was around january. Its now april and we don't even have a view for the next android update.

This "bigger update" is primarily bugfixes... Android updates get MAJOR features. If PR1.2 had major features maybe we wouldn't b**** as much... we'd want it more, but we'd understand that it will be worth it.
