Is PCX4M the latest and greatest PSX emu? I tried one when I first got the N900 and it didn't perform great so was waiting until progress had been made. It appears to have done now so was going to test again but not sure whether I should be going for PSX4ALL or PSX4M.

I understand PSX4M doesn't have a GUI but I can handle that if it is better than PSX4ALL

Go for PSX4m it is really good and a big step forward from PSX4ALL.

Perfectomundo!

Thanks for a speedy reply, man.

Oh and another question: is it possible to configure keys to the volume and camera keys? was thinking easier L/R buttons ;) .

from the games ive tried they all run slower due to no cycle multiplier support on PSX4M

I released the CLI one of two reasons:
- to not keep you waiting for something that is already running nicely
- either way I am moving to CLI process as a backend for GUI process architecture, so there's no point in delaying the part 1/2

As for the GUI I've been working simultaneously on a frontend for PSX4ALL, UAE4ALL and CPS2EMU, which are VERY similar.
I decided to join them all in one frontend-generator project, that would allow easy creation of even more frontends :D
And I have the basics running already.

Did you start working for Valve smoku? hehe.

If you need anything done in photoshop, hit me up. I'll gladly make something for you :)

I don't think that those keys are strong enough for this type of abuse. I wouldn't reccomend there use for gaming. My statment is not based on facts but just 'feel'. Though having the option would be nice.

The volume keys work great as the primary and secondary weapons keys in the N900 port of d1x-rebirth.

They're really useful in games that use the accelerometer for directional control like d1X-rebirth does since you never have to slide open the keyboard to play in this configuration.

Thanks for that. I have one more question now though. Can someone link me to a post or give me some quick instructions of how it works please?

I have been reading posts in this thread for ages now and have picked up a that games with /usr/games/psx4m -runcd /pathtogame. But do they need to be specific formats? I have an file that I want to try but it is an iso with a bin file. the above path to the iso gives and erro but to the bin it tells me it's running, shows me a list of settings but then does nothing.

I have the bios (scph1001.bin) in /home/user/Mydocs. Not sure if there is anything else I need to do or if it is just that the image is in the wrong format.

It sounds all good. I'm using *.bin files as well. Some work (Driver, Gran Turismo, Crash Bandicoot 3), but some just don't work for me (Tekken 3, NFS III). So maybe it's not your fault. Maybe the file is just not working with the emu. You could try anotherone, in order to see if the problem is caused by the comand line input or the image.

Edit: Just as info. This is a very useful tip by MiK546 to get the emulator started faster.

To use the new commandline-only psx4m more easily you can do this:

1. Type "sudo ln -s /usr/games/psx4m /usr/bin/psx4m"
2. After this you can run psx4m from anywhere by just typing "psx4m"

OK. The new conception is a bit different.
I'm working on a separate maemo-games-launcher frontend for PSX4ALL that uses standalone CLI binary as backend.

So, the first part - the CLI backend is out.
http://maemo.org/packages/view/psx4m/

Code:

~ $ /usr/games/psx4m -h
/usr/games/psx4m [options] [FILE]
        options:
        -h -help --help        This help
        -runcd                Runs CdRom
        -runcdbios        Runs CdRom Through Bios
        -hle                Use HLE
        -psxout                Enable stdout output
-load STATENUM        Loads savestate STATENUM (1-5)
        -nosound        Disable sound
        -showfps        Show FPS
        -gpustats        Show GPU statistics
        -frameskip 0-8        Frame skipping ratio
        -ilace 0,1,3,7        Interlace lines
        FILE                CdRom file

Frontends form my emulators became very similiar, so I joined them into one "frontend generator" sources. Please be patient.

but...

so it is not working. Maybe in the next release.

Thank you, Now If it updates I know how to do it at least ;) Thanks a lot! It's really better than the GUI version! I think Instructions could be written in the first page for users like me :D

this would have been so epic with cycle multiplier :D great work i wish i could help but im stuck learning java in university :(

Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition

No sound and cycle multiplier would pretty much make everything run 100% for me. Hell Even no sound would be a vast improvement.

No problem. didn't mean to be short. Just quite a few people who don't read threads and repost questions.

Now that I know English isnt your native language I will not snap again.

Then use private messages..if you want your posts to stay private.

I don't think your post was funny. I still don't think it is. I just pointed that out. That post is like Smoku is your employee and he needs to do what you want. So I didn't find it funny, even if as a joke. But that's my opinion. No need to worry.

So PSX4DROID is out.

Any chance you can look at the code and port it, smoku? Is this thing even hardware accelerated?
