youtube-dl has a new version out today. I'm guessing Youtube did actually change something again.

Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client
Does anybody tried to use Hildon Event Feed with cuteTube?
I activated the support from the cuteTube's Settings but it doesn't shows the Latest videos in the widget as it should let me know if for you it works as for me Hildon Event feed doesn't seems to work properly, even with the suggested example scripts in /home/user/Event Feed/examples/ and first of all, the widget refresh button doesn't even change colour when pressed, only the up and down arrows seems to work on pressed |

Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client
Hi, I think I have a bug report:
1)Log in to your account; 2)Go to your subs feed; 3)Play any video; 4)Go back to subs feed (do not go all the way to the first screen, go back just once for subs feed); 5)Play any other video; ->Problem: Two videos will start to play and the back one will stop only if you go back to the first screen. Hope it helps! By the way, thank you very so much! |

Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client
I don't think you can find it on GIT: https://github.com/marxoft
But there is a bug report button in cutetube itself (in the 'About' section) which sets up an email to showarth@marxoft.co.uk. Just report your problems / bugs there. |
N9 and N900 versions 1.10.8 not playing 'regular' youtube videos today: unable to decrypt video.signature. Vevo.videos working. Anyone else having this issue?
|
Installed 1.10.9 on my N9 and N900 which seems to fix YouTube problem I reported earlier.
Thanks, unseen Marxian in the cloud somewhere. |
Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client
I updated to version 1.10.10 a little while ago on N9 and N900. Thanks again to Marxian. I noticed that the N900 version now has a "Clear" button in the search history on the N900 version. Don't know if it's new to this version. I hadn't noticed it before, but it has appeared somewhere in these many upgrades and is most welcome. Wouldn't want my wife seeing what I've been searching for. Grown man probably shouldn't be listening to Kidz Bop version of "Roar". Looks like this feature is missing in Harmattan version though? Anyone found anywhere I failed to look?

Hey guys, using talk maemo app on n9 to post.
How to get passed the Cutetube Content warning where it won't download videos that are rated mature, like game trailers. Even using QDL doesn't retrieve the video, help? |

Can you post a link to an example that won't play but also that wouldn't get anyone fired or in trouble with the SO or kids? |

Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client
That article explains that YouTube will no longer be accessible to old appliances that no longer receive updates. CuteTube has an active maintainer, so it can keep up with YouTube API changes.
|
Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client
Yes, hopefully marxian will find time to update Cutetube for the new API. For me, Cututube is used almost daily so was sad to see it stop working this morning.
As a note, downloading videos still seems to work, so I assume it more or less bypasses the API. Tested with the latest video from Totalbiscuit, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFgFio6FsQg . After download it wouldn't play with the internal player for some reason (temporary maybe), but mplayer did work. So, I guess this might be a viable option until an update arrives. Edit: Disregard the above, system just needed a long-due reboot, cuteTube works fine again. |

Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client
That's strange, seeing it still works normally for tioubxancur I tried rebooting and what do you know, cuteTube does Youtube just fine. Must've been something fishy going on with the internal player then and the system just needed a good reboot. Sorry for the false alarm ;-)

Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client
Same thing happened to me, and sure enought, reboot solved it. BUT this also appeared:

News
Google (officially) ended support for version 2 of the YouTube API on 20/04/2015. However, it still seems to be working, for now. Regardless, I'm currently re-writing cuteTube to use the QYouTube, QDailymotion and QVimeo shared libraries that I wrote recently (devel releases are buggy, but the bugs have since been fixed in git). The new version will have some feature changes. Features added:
Features removed:
Plugins Plugins are defined using a config file (in INI format, similar to a .desktop file), and an optional settings file (in XML format). The config file provides an 'Exec' key, which is used to call the plugin. The plugin works by writing output to stdout in JSON format, so a plugin can be written using any method you prefer (e.g. shell script, Python script or binary). I will provide an exact plugin specification when the new version is published. There are some early screenshots of the Maemo5 version at http://marxoft.co.uk/news/?post=1429713801 |
Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client
SailfishOS support planned?
|
Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client
Features removed:
Comments, as these are not supported in YouTube API v3. Built-in social/sharing features, as cuteTube will use platform sharing features in future, and I want to kill my social network accounts with fire. i cannot understand this part and will there be a feature that enables video links from diffrent browsers when clicked or copied to be used in cutetube as cutetubes player is really nice also can locally saved video playback finally come to cutetube setting background color or wallpaper or a nightmode theme and just for show-off and utility dragging vertically to increase decrease volume horizantally to forward backward |
Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client
Looks very nice!
I think it's better looking than the current version on Fremantle. Thank you for your efforts to supporting our oldie, but goodie tech. :D |
Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client
and i forgot to add cutetube merceylessly chews my limited data plan :D
oh it even plays nice on 2g ! ::eek:: no need to use too expensive rooftop 3g i.e 3g coverage in rooftop :p thanks |
Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client
cuteTube Player is nice actually. I wondered if it had any superior functionality, and so it could be extracted out and made as an stand-alone player. :)

The player hasn't been implemented yet, so I'm not sure exactly what the final result will be like. There will be no playback of local videos, since the archive feature is being removed. |

actually after enabling 720p support both players ie omp and mp become unstable as frequently they would slow down stuck on loading dots etc so i use sib as thats the fastest and most reliable video player for now but then it dosent have thumbnail so finding videos is a mess so was hoping cutetube equipped with local playback would change that |

Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client
Cutube has the best built-in video player on the platform imho, it's capable of resizing videos on the fly in multitask view, and that function is that I really want to see in OMP, or even the stock player...
So, If you want to start developing a standalone video player app based on this functionality, I would pay for it. :D |
Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client
I think it would be a shame to lose the archive feature. Makes it much easier to manage the files.
