Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

In "problems" tab there were many packages @mosiomm mentioned earlier so it's possible it's more common problem right now.

I've managed to fix the dependencies with:

1. change for community-testing repo from:
Code:

http://repository.maemo.org/community-testing
to:
Code:

http://skeiron.org/repo/repository.maemo.org/community-testing/
2. later there were two dependencies missing (for maemosec-certman-applet0, version 0.1.4) - for those I had to manually add community-devel repo from:
Code:

http://maemo.merlin1991.at/cssu/community-devel/
fremantle
free non-free

I guess this one usually is added by community-ssu-enabler.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

After adding the skeiron.org repo's, I updated to the latest version of CSSU-Thumb. The update went through, but now hildon-status-manager is on high (50%+) CPU load constantly.

I am sure it is something I did wrong, but I can't figure out what. Did anyone else encounter this?

Is hildon-status-menu alone causing high cpu load or pulseaudio is also using high cpu load

Guys, I'd recommend to not install/upgrade until the repos are back functional.

Actually yes, pulseaudio is also on 25% or so.

edit: removed tracker-indexer reference

Edit2: indeed, I had thumb-testing enabled, I confused it with CSSU-testing. Reinstalling Pulseaudio fixed the issue.

edit: removed tracker-indexer reference

if you stop pulseaudio hildon-status-menu will become normal.

have you enabled cssu devel repository by any chance??

also can see if your libpulse version is same as pulseaudio package.
This problem is mainly due to libpulse and pulseaudio version being
different

I'm pretty sure I managed to get CSSU-Thumb installed last night (no problems so far at least).

What's the most reliable way to verify that I have the latest version installed?

dpkg -l | grep community-pr

if mp-fremantle-commuity-pr version contains thumb, chances are you have the latest cssu-thumb installed :)

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

So, is there any way i can force an upgrade to version 21.2011.38-1Tmaemo7.2+thumb0 from 21.2011.38-1Tmaemo4-thumb14 via HAM?

I've even tried to reinstall it but HAM complains saying "The application 'community-ssu-enabler' has already been instaled"

Dont want to issue "# apt-get update && apt-get upgrade" It's been said several times:

It's been stated hundreds of times: DO NOT USE ANYTHING ELSE BUT HAM for system updates.

He wants to upgrade from 21.2011.38-1Tmaemo4-thumb14 to
21.2011.38-1Tmaemo7.2+thumb0, maybe you read it backwards?

I would try reinstalling mp-fremantle-community-pr but don't try it until somebody confirms this is the right way to go.

Indeed! My deepest apologies for reading it wrong :o

It seems like time to take a quick break.

pinoverclock, the upgrade instructions by freemangordon were posted here but I do remember someone around a month or two having the same issues and that person had posted updated instructions in this thread itself.

Edit: The poster with a similar upgrade issue starts from here. Once again; sorry for reading your post wrongly.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

No need to apologize, i have tried to excute the script posted by freemangordon here but as ghitly coments in is post:

Quote:

The problem I encounter is:
E: Version '21.2011.38-1Tmaemo5.1+thumb0' for 'mp-fremantle-community-pr' was not found
as it's required by cssu-thumb-21.2011.38-1Tmaemo5.1+thumb0.sh.
Could the script cssu-thumb-21.2011.38-1Tmaemo5.1+thumb0.sh be modified changing or removing it's packages versions?

Edited: Im triying the solution posted by ghitly here, seems to be a little tricky but...

I'll post the results
Edited2: Reboot loop

Thanks

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

Upgrading zlib1g causes my device to enter a reboot loop (it boots, displays status area but not desktop and reboots after a while - hildon-desktop process keeps rebooting and when I connect n900 to my computer via USB in mass storage mode, it does not reboot until I deconnect it).

I am on csthumb. My /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hildon-application-manager.list is as follows:
Code:

deb http://repository.maemo.org/community/ fremantle free non-free
deb http://repository.maemo.org/community-testing/ fremantle free non-free
deb https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/ssu/apps/ ./
deb https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/ssu/mr0 ./
deb https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle1.2/ovi/ ./
deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ fremantle-1.3 free non-free
deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/ fremantle free non-free
deb http://bokomoko.de/~rd/maemo/ unstable/
deb http://maemo.merlin1991.at/cssu/community-thumb/ fremantle free non-free

Version of zlib1g is this:
Code:

dpkg -l | grep zlib
ii  zlib1g                                              1:1.2.3-9.osso9+0m5                        compression library - runtime

It seems I do not have mp-fremantle-community-pr installed even though I should (if I read this thread correctly):

Code:

dpkg -l |grep fremantle-comm
ii  mp-fremantle-community-pr                          0                                          Community SSU package, includes latest fixes from Gitorious and the community

When I try to install it, I get this:

Code:

apt-get install mp-fremantle-community-pr
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  mp-fremantle-community-pr: Depends: maemosec-certman-tools (>= 0.2.2) but 0.2.1 is to be installed
Depends: rtcom-messaging-ui-portrait (>= 1.0) but it is not installable
Depends: system-services (>= 0.3.8-68+0cssu1) but 0.3.8-68+0cssu0 is to be installed
Depends: upstart (>= 0.3.8-68+0cssu1) but 0.3.8-68+0cssu0 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

Now, I just do not have to install zlib1g and all is fine, but I would somehow like my device to be up to date and also I think that maybe it is messed up in some mysterious way? Any ideas?

(Edit: I can restore the device with bootupmenu, so some experimenting is possible:-))

you need to setup community testing and extras repository .
setup them according to the thread link at top of forum since repository.maemo.org is sometimes up and down sometimes.

Hm, that resulted into these packages being installed: maemosec-certman-common-ca maemosec-certman-tools osso-wlan osso-xterm system-services upstart zlib1g

Then I tried to manually install mp-fremantle-community-pr, which pulled in these packages:
dsme-thermalobject-surface libcpaboutcssu librtcom-eventlogger1-async maemo-optify-runonce modest-home-applet qtquickcompat rtcom-accounts-voip-support rtcom-eventlogger-async rtcom-messaging-ui-portrait

And failing hte update with:
Code:

Selecting previously deselected package maemo-optify-runonce.
(Reading database ... 39334 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking maemo-optify-runonce (from .../maemo-optify-runonce_0.10-32+0m5_all.deb) ...
dokill: can't find process to kill hildon-application-manager ()
dokill: can't find process to kill apt-worker ()

And then rebooting and entering a reboot loop (without evem making it to the Desktop). Restoring from backupmenu right now.

hmm don't know why your's is pulling maemo-optify-runonce along with update since it shouldn't.
before update what is your device running on pr1.3 or cssu stable/testing/ old thumb version?

If the second sentence is a question what I am running after restoring from backupmenu, then the answer is: I am not sure (after the mess with repository transition I kind of lost track). Is there a wayt find out?

I enabled thumb some time ago, which I think pulled community testing as well (I was on community stable previously).

It is big as it replaces almost half of the OS. Also you may check in application manager how much space will be freed after installing it.

However, your call/sms problem seems to be due to corrupted contacts and/or conversations database. Don't expect CSSU to fix that. You'd rather search for how to backup you contacts and recreate those databases.

Ah, I see. I actually am on csthumb, I just wanted to upgrade (as there were lots of packages to upgrade). But I will wait now and see.

I actually got to a state when I upgraded everything but zlib1g, which still causes a reboot loop. Also, I still do not have installed mp-fremantle-community-pr as it pulls maemo-optify-runonce which results in the reboot (but not a reboot loop, I was mistaken about that) with the error code I posted a couple of posts back.
But I will see whether the updated and complete repository fixes this, I hope it will!

I do not have cssu-devel enabled (and I have never had - at least to my knowledge). I cannot install mp-fremantle-community-pr as it pulls maemo-optify-runonce which does not get installed because during instalation, it says:

Selecting previously deselected package maemo-optify-runonce.

Unpacking maemo-optify-runonce (from .../maemo-optify-runonce_0.10-32+0m5_all.deb) ...
dokill: can't find process to kill hildon-application-manager ()
dokill: can't find process to kill apt-worker ()

and then reboots, but after boot, maemo-optify-runonce is still not installed. I have done everything via command line, should I try to do it via HAM (is there a difference)?

and then reboots, but after boot, maemo-optify-runonce is still not installed. I have done everything via command line, should I try to do it via HAM (is there a difference)?

Sure there is.

I see. And what exactly? I installed csthumb using the gui method described in the first post (well, linked from there to the wiki), but then I just used to do apt-get update && apt-get upgrade. Is that not recommended (HAM is so slow and bothersome compared to apt-get).

Anyway, I tried to update using HAM and it offered me mp-fremantle-community-pr but it failed because of missing package maemo-optify-runonce which i could not find in HAM.
