Oh, so now you're going to turn into a "between-the-cracks" sort of type, too ? Congrats, Andrew :-)

That's quite a shotgun approach. Let's take every possible form factor and make a device out of it. Maybe some of the pellets will hit.

Yes, but in all fairness that seems to be what the Nokia S60 folks are doing these days. I am still trying to determine the parental heritage of the N97.

So can anyone confirm or deny if maemo is going to have anyting to announce in MWC barcelona?

Nokia is having a press conference on 16th. Is it going to be the tablet or a new mobile phone with 8 mpx camera?

having read through this whole 35 page thread i only hope nokia fixes the little annoyance left in current devices so that we can enjoy using it, and let future devices and software mature , it will be a pain to pull down 5OO€ for N 9OO and depend on developers here to fixe simple microb issues.

Tomorow is MWC.

Nokia will officially launch an app store for its Symbian OS-based smartphones at Mobile World Congress on Monday. (Source)
Qt 4.5 is now at rc1 stage.

N97 will make heavy use of widgets (something like gdesklets/google deskbar/windows sidebar/dashboard/mozilla prism), this could be easily cross platform.

I certainly agree (annoying) bugs on a mobile device are a horror. A mobile device is a device you want to be able to depend on.

We should kinda wait for that period to finish to tell, right ?

You *are* aware that those on your images are reference designs that will be released to *manufacturers* in a couple of months and that no Tegra device actually exists at the moment ?

I think this topic is about where Nokia is not some simple images about where Tezro is.

And no hair on my head believes a 100 USD notebook with Vista / Windows 7 is possible.

Here are Nokia's current press releases; some are from today 16 february 2009. More might be added today since its 1 PM. As of now, the releases are mostly S60 related, but it also shows Nokia and Adobe are going to push Flash heavily. Also 2 new E-Series are announced, E55 and E75. E55 looks like a nice succesor of E51.

Re: Where is Nokia - no announcement no product - still in hibernation

Even in the event that the N900 is announced, I'm still likely going to purchase the N810. The reason's are:

1) Who are we kidding, the N810 is a WONDERFUL, full featured device in its current form. I'm itching to have a media player that can play flac, a portable ebook reader (my netbook just ain't cutting it), and a wireless sip phone. The N810 can do this plus far, far more.

2) I have cash. I know, amazing, right?

3) Even if the N900 is announced, the release date is likely going to be far into the future (End of year?). At which point I can decide weather or not to upgrade, and if I should sell the N810 at a slight loss.

4) Because of the openness of the NIT and the good hardware specs, I can't even consider any other device with a straight face. The N810 has a great balance of feature, and what's more, I can do anything I want with the vast majority of them.

The only thing that can change my mind is an early (spring/summer) release of a well-spec'd maemo device.

YARR!
