Re: Moses SmartQ 5
Hi,
I just bought a smartq7. I wanted to install mer on the SD card so i took the rootfs of 0.15 version and unrared to an ext3 partition on SD card. but i see boot folder has no kernel, so I am thinking what I did was totally foolish. I do not want to flash mer, I want boot option. I made changes in the menu.lst of version 4.0 smartq firmware. I see all the installation instructions for smartq are for flashing only. Can anyone be kind enough to please post installation guide(step by step would be nice) Thanks Guys |

Re: Moses SmartQ 5
I have finally pinned down the WPA bug in Mer now. For those interested, the wifi driver forget to reveal it's WPA capabilities to
Grab http://www.daimi.au.dk/~cvm/kernel-s...050509_all.deb and sudo dpkg -i kernel-smartq5-modules_2.6.24.7-smartq5-050509_all.deb I might consider putting out a 0.15.1 for SmartQ, if success rates of this fix is high enough. Please spread fix to other forums, ideally mirror it. |

Re: Moses SmartQ 5
My SmartQ 7 arrived a week ago. It functions fine, sorry to those who are having issues.
It is seriously in need of optimisation though and it is good to see that SmartQ are affording the Mer team positive assistance. At least that is what it looks like from postings such as "SmartDevices providing up to date kernel sources for us" http://n2.nabble.com/Mer-Chatter-f2732813.html I haven't tried Mer yet, just biding time to see how things shape up. How much specific feedback would the Mer team like I wonder? I am not sure if I should wait on SmartQ firmware v5.0 or not. The recent V4.0 didn't seem to do enough. Screen performance is pretty poor on mine, touch sensitivity is very imprecise and sluggish and generally quite frustrating. To the extent that it is not encouraging me to use it. The device itself has a reassuring solid build quality, apart from the flimsy prop stand that is. Compared to the N800 it is huge and heavy. Not to mention it is a bargain at $189. |
