Re: Attention all N900 Vodafone users in the UK!
i have been told there will be no charge as of yet about going over the 500MB. they will however call and txt you to try and get you to change your bundle.
i am guess they are doing this to scar customers in to changing. to get as many people on new bundles before they start charging people so that less people can cancel there contract about the change in T&C with the Unlimited internet. Quote:

@snaps, you have to wait until they charge you before you can cancel, the notification text alone is not enough to be able to cancel your contract. And if anyone does decide to cancel it needs to be in writing along with a check for any outstanding charges marked "full and final settlement" and then cancel your DD. They will never let you out by calling them on the phone, and will try and tell you that you can not cancel your contract without paying a fee. So if you do decide to try canceling you will need to be prepared to go to court and argue your case (although chances are they wont want to take it that far for fear of setting a president that will let others out of their contracts) |
Re: Attention all N900 Vodafone users in the UK!

Tried rebooting? If it still doesnt work just call them. Tell them you cannot see any GSM/3G connections available to go online. If that doesnt work download fAPN from extras depository. It allows you to manually create a connection point. |
Re: Attention all N900 Vodafone users in the UK!
Thanks for the replies. After a reboot no connection is being found so i'll give them a call.

Once I get charged, I will try and cancel under the 10% clause.

Re: Attention all N900 Vodafone users in the UK!
I reset my data counter on the 1st June and so far i have downloaded just over 20 Gb and i have not heard anything from vodaphone, no texts, calls, letters, i even logged onto my account and no messages or excess billing. Very strange... I think i probably slipped though the net, this month, because by the end of the 1st, i had already downloaded more than 512mb. Their computerised checking (algorithm) is probably not that smart, and probably just detects when users cross a boundary; this is all a guess by the way.
I have downloaded between 40 and 50 GB per month for the last 5 months. I use my n900 as my main internet connection, because i'm only living at my current address for 6 months (2 months to go). the point is that i dont want to sign up to a 12 month broadband connection and i agreed a contract which included unlimited data. There was no mention of a FUP when i took out my contract, neither verbally or in writing. Unlimited means unlimited. The cellular infrastructure can easily handle the traffic; the operators are just trying to claw back a portion of the huge amount of money they paid for the 3g licences. Scr*w vodafone, if they charge me, i'll send them a comprehensive letter and cancel my direct debit, lets see if they take me (and anyone else like me) to court. I doubt they will, i doubt they would win, and i doubt they could afford the costs. Any impartial judge would see they totally abused the word unlimited. |
