this actually sounds like a scam :P

To be fair to them, they haven't opened up for more orders yet.

I think they're trying to placate their backers, but (maybe like Jolla), are going about it the wrong way; instead of giving a real, honest appraisal of their status (ie rented property in Finland, hiring staff to populate said factory, and therefore probably a couple of months off shipping) they're saying, "we're nearly there".

This does no-one any favours - the backers just end up getting more pissed off when another deadline has passed, while potential buyers think "scam".

Yes I did find this in comments to someone. But any official comments from Turing are from February.

I like how they made a comment to someone about shipping in May but no official announcement.

Yep.

And misusing Turing's name.

And having a logo that looks like they were playing Destiny when they "designed" it... https://www.destinythegame.com/uk/en/home

Klaxons should be sounding.

Where can I pre-order this Klaxon of which you speak? Someone, take my money!

Seriously, wouldn't that be a good name for a phone? Or a band?

Waaay off topic,
but I spend the bulk of my time working on something completely removed from tech (hobby)
and this klaxon idea certainly suggests an idea.
We all (even recently) recall and occasionally refer to
something that could be regarded as TMO's version of the Godwin rule
(a concept so sacred no one dares to add anything to it anymore)

Maybe we could create a similar application that quantifies the
raw volume and depth of BS
(what we see so much of in the quest for a linux phone)
and generates a klaxon rating.

"This is open source" vs where is the github version
"we are being honest" vs where is the corroborative news
"we are shipping next month" vs show me your manufacturing facility
etc ad nauseam

We could simply name it KLAXON,
and it would be somewhat like SAERA,
(SAERA should stay focused on truth, unsullied of course)

You could, of course, use it for anything,
beyond just determining if the next linux phone investment scheme,
needs a Panamaniac shell corp or what.

We could test it out during the US general elections,
at the least....

Where did you see this? I just looked at their FaceBook page and only see their latest post from Feb 25th.
And I do see some posts from people in March but Turing's responses do not say anything about postponing it until May.

According to Digitoday they have 20 employees now and manufacturing of the phones will start on May.

More Turing phone models will be shown later this year.
