factory shipping means 10-15 days till retailer shipping we are now on day 7... (yes its working days not including Sat.)

means the note by Nokia telling "end of November" is precise. you want a day? ask nokia for the day the packages left the fab! "ready for shipping" doesnt mean that the truck just left the properties.

I bet the first "I got one!" will yell nothing earlier than Monday next week.

Due to a complete reluctance to manage the flow information the talk isn't about the N900's capabilities but how how delayed it is and the lack of information surrounding it.

I totally agree but venting out may just make things worse. I mean has anyone heard of the saying "out of sight, out of mind" people here are just too addicted and totally in lust. The more people complain and vent out is just adding more fuel to the fire. Why??? I come here to find what new and coming to Maemo but it seems this forum is over run by needles post of status update.... Yes! we are waiting... Yes! its shipped.... Yes! there have been delays. Does that mean harassing/telephone stalking CS would make it any faster. I would guess that if these people didn't have to answer these calls they could be put to process your orders and they are not letting you know they have shipped because they have a backlog. In these times of economic downturn they need to have be as frugal as possible. Be lucky that there is a new device that is worth lusting about. And like I said "patience is a virtue and silence is golden"

this is stupid. if they held it up, so they could unbox em all and upgrade the firmware or something.... TELL US. There is no reason we should have to deal with this NO INFORMATION crap. If you do not change the way you deal with your community Nokia, you are going to fail in the open source sector. If they left korea when they said, they should be hitting distributors by now.... ZOMGA!

Course, im just gonna end up seppuku-ing myself tonight after I know its not gonna happen on the 17th, and then they will announce tomorrow that its hitting retailers or something.... just like the whole 9th/10th thing

It seems pretty odd that nokia would have an announcement like Nokia n900 Begins Shipping if that were the case.

I would think that a company would have an announcement like: "n900 production is underway! Expect deliveries to start early in the week of November 23rd!". That way people are all excited (and, more importantly, informed). Instead, we got either a completely misleading or flat out lie of a post last week. Hence, every single person who has been waiting for up to two months has every right to complain about the situation.

Nokia is a big boy. It can handle the (justified) criticism. So many people (i.e. Nokia employees) are on here defending them like they aren't in the wrong.

Lottery numbers? Im not asking them to predict the future. This is a product that Nokia and ONLY Nokia are in control of. I am not asking for super powers to be used. I am not looking for the meaning of life. Just some basic consideration for the growing fanbase of this device - give us some info! Address us directly! I expect the marketing department at Nokia are tearing their hair out because they DO appreciate the negative effect this lack of info creates.

And re the rest of your post, what a waste of type. Yawn.

I appreciate that info does trickle through eventually, but when I had 16th of November pencilled in as an exciting day, to hit the internet and see NO new info at all, certainly not from Nokia, was pretty disappointing.

Anyway, going round in circles here.

Lets hope we all see this device landing soon. I agree there's no need for outright flaming of Nokia and the helpful Maemo folk on here, but I think both sides here should consider each other's point of view a little more.

nice to know that you know all the processes standard new product must go through. the closer the release date gets, better estimates there are. note: i said estimates. I just gave you one. What if nokia announces that everybody willing will have n900 27.11.2009 and word explodes 25.11.2009. see my point? the date is nothing more than an estimate until devices are handed to buyers. everything can happen but the probability decreases more the device proceeds the shops.

what info do you want? it has been announced that the product has been shipped and it takes a while (2 weeks) to get to the preorderers and shops. what else do you want to know? that is an official press release. what do you really want? it came 10 days after the device should have been shipped. get real.

You're completely incorrect. The announcements simply said the product was shipping and would available in stores in November. No mention was made of factories, boat/air or supply chains. Certainly no mention was made of two weeks.

The only way you'd interpret the information correctly was if you're very used to how Nokia does releases (i.e. poorly) or were following it here. The average person would assume orders were shipping to customers and that it would be available very soon in retail shops to walk in and buy

What Nokia should do, IMHO, is give a definitive day and give all the preorders a CP-321 case for free (in white, please).

I know that this is the anger thread, but I have been able to use a pre-production N900 for a few days now, and no matter how you feel right now, it is worth the wait. It's seriously the coolest device ever. The media player is quite nice, but won't play some videos. I am waiting for mplayer and VLC to become available. The integration of messaging is really amazing, SMS conversations look just like skype chat or google talk chat. You can leave different chat sessions open and switch between them. I could go on and on about the thoughtful features and minor issues with this phone, but please go out and do something fun and stop reading this thread.

I saw Nokia ad on NYC Metro newspaper, pretty interesting although it had picture of N97 bigger than N900 with several other cellphones on the side. It seemed to me as if Nokia is trying to promote N97 more than N900 but hey if N900 isn't released yet then it is reasonable. But for newcomers to Nokia, N97 would be a turn off. And also it had several contact numbers of store which sell Nokia phones. So i called couple of stores in Queens, NY. Some of them said they should have it by next Tuesday or later but others gave me an estimated time frame of 2-3weeks and they didn't have a price either.

Anyway, I just registered on here been reading threads about N900. I'm thinking of buy when its available in stores for pickup.

That press release was more for investors, distributors and Maemo community than for customers.

I would expect that Nokia will do another press release for customers when N900 is available in shops, as it did with E72.

That is actually what is happening and the reason for the $50 rebate taking place in some retail channels. Some are moving on to other devices and mainly the gadget and tech geeks will stay with their preorders. Bet on it as each day passes and no N900.

I ordered mine a couple of days ago on Vodafone from Nokia Reail. Do you think I will receive it the same time as you lot who ordered many moons ago? Or will I have it later on, say first couple of weeks in December?
Also, they asked me to prove identification and bank details, I sent them an email containing these two days ago but havn't heard anything back yet. Do you think I should chase this up or is it normal to take a few days?

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

My guess is any projected dates are pure guesses. Need the boats to dock, clear customs and then inbound deliveries updated by each retail channel. Then it depends on how accurate and "real" time their product tracking is- from the point they are actually received by them.

Exactly. The 27th Nov seems much more reliable than any other date suggested thus far on this thread.

I can see no clear-cut reason why Nokia Czech would release their handsets to Czech customers LATER than Nokia UK. Hence next week (27th) must be the likely date than everyone whom has ordered from Noka Online (in whatever european country - perhaps excluding Sweden) finally gets their N900.

This would also tie-in with the estimated delivery date announced by Play.com. Cheers for the link

First of all hello from a noob.

I have been lurking at this site since n900 has been announced and also want it very badly.
No offence, but I think most of you guys are angry and pissed because of your own stupidity!
Nokia has announced that they began shipping on 10th and I`m sure they are! It is not Nokias job to teach you about logistics or business... it`s your teachers job at school. If you don`t boder yourself to learn how logistics and shipping works in such a big company then don`t boder yourself beeing angry also. Learn their business model instead. Belive me, after they ship from factory, it is out of their hands and all they can do is estimate. And they did saying at the end of November. Do you guys imagine how many shipping company`s, warehouses, wholesalers and resellers are between you and Nokia? Do you imagine from how many variables shipping process is consisting and how they can affect delivery date? Especially if you are shipping from such a 3rd country like Korea! I work as a Sales manager and Logistician in a mid size company and I can tell you it is a real pain in the a*rse to ship from a 3rd country! If you would know it you wouldn`t ask here why Nokia does not give a exact date!
As some of you here have mentioned that usually Nokias shipping is taking 10-14 days. Based on that I would say they are shipping by air. Because it is no way you can ship it by boat so quickly from Korea! By boat it will take at least one month to deliver. In my opinion they are using combined shipping method: for their own e-shops and selected resellers it is by air and for others it is by boat. I would do so. You can say what you want here, but shipping by air is signiffically more expensive than by sea. Been there done that! As a matter of fact it can be twice as expensive! Considering that I believe all the dates said by resellers are right. Those who get them by air are getting it in November and those stating December or January, are getting it by boat.

Peace!

PS! Forgive me my English spelling. It is not my native language (altough i use it every day ;) )

When you said Korea is a 3rd Country, I hope you don't mean 3rd world country. If you do, I suggest you should go "boder" your teachers from school again. And I definitely hope you didn't come to that conclusion because it's an Asian country.

Anyway, I would like to apologize for being offensive if you didn't mean that Korea is a 3rd world country.

Nokia can certainly try to do business that way and it appears they are but if they continue this way you can look forward to buying the "Nokia range" of phones from HTC in a few years.

My advice to would be buyers is hold off and get it cheaper from play.com - that'll teach em
