Re: [TUTORIAL GIGA UPDATE] Do you smell it, do you? It's Gingerbread!

It should as it solved most of my problems but my gingerbread install is on the emmc(internal storage), I wouldn't of thought this would be a problem but maybe it is a mount issue with the micro sd.

Re: [TUTORIAL GIGA UPDATE] Do you smell it, do you? It's Gingerbread!

Okay here is my workaround for the charging issue in gingerbread :)
The first thing you will want to do is stop the confliction between the BME&sleep function to this go to settings, application, development and tick the box net to stay awake.
Now for the locking confliction this is not perfect but its better then nothing ;)
The second thing you will want to do is go to settings, display settings and click on screen timeout and set this to the highest especially if your battery is nearly flat and needs a full charge.
The third thing you will want to do is optional in terms of if you are going to be using Android whilst the phone is charging you can skip this :) If not please follow thank you :)
Okay so you want to leave the phone charging but the locking mechanism will kick in after even the highest value of screen timeout.
So what I do is go to settings, about phone and click on status and leave it on that menu and also please note you must use the phone or make an action after say 25 minutes as otherwise after 30 minutes Android will lock the phone and the confliction between BME&locking mechanism will happen and Android will kill charging the phone.
The BME is obviously not fixed in gingerbread as this is still happening.
Anyways these are my two cents to the problem and take this issue with a pinch of salt thanks ;)
Also you can help the speed of the charging along by changing to a stationary wallpaper and not a live wallpaper and also changing the display brightness and turning of all wifi and phone GSM/3G connections if you are not using these functions, I hope this helps ;)

Okay if you are still having problems run apt-get install -f as root again and take note of any incompatabile programs and remove them then once you have done that try to install the nitroid installer :)

Geekygenes, thanks very much for your help. I ran the install -f and this is what I got. Please looked at it and let me know what else I can do.

Re: [TUTORIAL GIGA UPDATE] Do you smell it, do you? It's Gingerbread!

Hi guys,

successfully installed nitdriod froyo and it runs fine. I thought I would attempt the upgrade to gingerbread and followed the steps here: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=887394&postcount=1
I get to the end of step 5 of installing gingerbread and get this

"Creating item file for multiboot"
I get an error saying:
sh: /dev/mmcblk0p2: unknown operand

if i move on to step 6 i just get a blank text document in leafpad, any ideas on how to fix this?

If your using Gingerbread, you should change the LCD Density back to 240:
Code:

root
mount /home /and
leafpad /and/system/build.prop

Change the LCD Density to 240, and tell me if it doesn't work :D

Re: [TUTORIAL GIGA UPDATE] Do you smell it, do you? It's Gingerbread!

hello there..i'm having problem with my nitdroid actually..

whenever i have the microSD inserted, i have to change the ITEM_DEVICE to {INT_CARD}p5 for nitdroid to boot..

if however, i remove the microSD card..nitdroid won't boot...unless....unless i edit the ITEM_DEVICE to mmcblk0p5..

so now, the situation is, nitdroid detected the microSD, and won't boot from mmcblk0p5..it needs to be {INT_CARD}p5..without the microSD, it wants to boot from mmcblk05..

any idea how to fix this?

If you want to use a microsd:
ITEM_DEVICE:${INT_CARD}pX where X could either be 2 or 5

Re: [TUTORIAL GIGA UPDATE] Do you smell it, do you? It's Gingerbread!

Flexman go back into terminal and run as root and do the following :)
sudo dpkg -i --force-overwrite /var/cache/apt/archives/libwrt1_1.1.0_armel.deb
sudo dpkg -i --force-overwrite /var/cache/apt/archives/wrt-policy_1.0-1_all.deb
sudo dpkg -i --force-overwrite /var/cache/apt/archives/wrt_1.1.0_armel.deb
sudo dpkg -i --force-overwrite /var/cache/apt/archives/wrt-api_1.1.0_armel.deb
And then do apt-get install -f and afterwards do apt-get install nitdroid-installer or if you want to go down the manual package install route.
cd to /home/user/MyDocs and do the following dpkg -i nitdroid-installer_0.2.7_armel.deb :)

Re: [TUTORIAL GIGA UPDATE] Do you smell it, do you? It's Gingerbread!

Firstly hats off to Ammyt, youre a legend.

Installed Gbread a few days ago and been loving it. Browsed through 138 pages of this thread and fixed most of my issues.

Only thing outstanding is that it wont allow me to creat a VPN,menu is blank, so created a post in the VPN thread for that. But if anyone here wants to chip in and help then please feel free.

Have noticed my n900 get really hot when running Gb, I assume this is due to the overclocking. When running maemo I usually get 26-31c but when running Gb its up to 41 and noticably hot in my hand, does make me worry about the h/w in my n900. Anything I could do to help there?

simply make another copy of the item and rename it by changing 11 to 10 then edit one of them to run nitdroid while memory inserted

Re: [TUTORIAL GIGA UPDATE] Do you smell it, do you? It's Gingerbread!

Okay two things.
The first thing is I changed the LCD density and for some reason MyDocs got unhooked and it couldn't find the sd card area.
I have Gingerbread installed to the emmc(internal storage).
But after I restarted the N900 it was fine but now it keeps saying pre paring sd card and there is a delay for the apps that have been installed to the sd card/MyDocs under /home/user.

And also I know there wouldn't be much point but could I, If I wanted to install Nitdroid 0.09 as well as Gingerbread :)
Thanks in advance!

Re: [TUTORIAL GIGA UPDATE] Do you smell it, do you? It's Gingerbread!

Okay I am now getting the error damaged sd card.
All this because of a LCD density change, what the hell.

i think the first priority for e-yes is to have a stable gingerbread build, then to have a working phone, after that a working camera.

Sure. But if you go to: downloads.nitdroid.com/e-yes you will find a camera archive, and I just wondered about what it does...

when inserted memory card it should be

or

but when there is no memory card inserted , it should be

u need to edit this file vold.fstab in /and/system/etc

open maemo and follow instructions :

this is vold.fstab with the correct commands to mount real SDcard

u can find it in attachments as tar archive

copy it to /home/user/MyDocs

assuming u installed nitdroid on /home

open the terminal

root

mount /home /and

cd /and/system/etc

tar xvf /home/user/MyDocs/vold.tar
