Re: [QSportsEvent] FIFA World Cup and Football App
QSportsEvent/MobiTifo 0.0.8 - Santiago Bernabeu is now available for download!
Please follow the instructions in the usual wiki page. One of the new features is a 'chat tab'. I haven't been able to test it much, so let's see how well it works... If you manage to, please do say 'hallo' there once you have installed the app :) Featurewise, I'd be happy to release this version into Extras-Testing, so please do test it as if you were going to vote for it there! I do hope to improve the UI still a bit... As most of you know, I do depend on PR1.2 to be generally available before it actually makes it to Extras... What next? I want this app to evolve into a companion for sports fans of the covered sports. I'm breaking that up into various stages our support goes through: Before an event: Score prediction? I've currently added a link to a WC prediction site. Is that a good idea? Team selection? Not sure how interesting this would be. Would you like to pick the team and be able to share your choices with the community? During: Support? Would you like to know how many others are following the same event? Share ups and downs during the game? In my wildest dreams I'm thinking of using the accellerometer to detect when you are excited and this would be combined in real-time with other followers of the same event and the app would play a sound depending on the community reaction. :) Player Rating? Would you like the ability to rate players? Intra-game? Post-game? Real-time? Follow results? Live scores is a must, of course. How about real-time changes to your predictions? After: Commentary - Analysis? Maybe a 'forum' would be better than the 'chat box'? Post/Preseason: ? Separate from this, I'd like the ability to download 'knock-out-stages' kind of data similar to what SoccerDB provides for league data. I might set up something on the Google App Engine with web2py as I can't find any data provider that carries this. I also plan to support the 'long tail' with this app. I don't only want it to be used to follow the major sports leagues, but also your amateur or children's leagues. Anyway, that will come later... If anyone knows of any data provider for such features, I'd be interested to look at it. |
Re: [QSportsEvent] FIFA World Cup and Football App
http://www.openligadb.de/Sports has different sport leagues and is free.
It offers you a XML based service. The community can add own leagues and games to the system but the whole frontend is German (maybe you can use Google Translate for a better understanding). At least for the German Bundesliga, World Cup 2010 and Champions League the data should be very up2date (like live data). |

Re: [QSportsEvent] FIFA World Cup and Football App
Just an idea. As I also have another Qt app under development, I thought of some combined usefulness :)
Qteachme is a flashcard app. Does anyone know of any sources for World Cup/Football/Sports related trivia that could be loaded onto that app? The required format is extremely simple: Question|Answer Who won the World Cup in 2006?|Italy There could be trivia for specific events, sports, rules of the game, teams, ... |
