Still says I dont got enough free memory in the targetlocation.
As I asume he means rootfs, I dont get it. Rootfs is 30Mb right now, while it only requires like 16,5Mb (edit: sorry for being too lazy to carefully check all prev. posts if that'd provide me with an answer, i did check something but couldnt find) |

Off-topic: Please change the name of this thread. Everytime I come to read the forum, my hearth stops thinking that the new firmware is out (1.2)...

Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)
Well the mid-februari updat ebricked my N900. Most likely due to the NSU. I reflashed with the newest firmware (with the februari update included - v3.2010.02.8) available using flasher and that all went well, except.. I cant access the ovi-store. It asks me to update.
Obviously there is someting in one of the earlier two updates that is missing in this one. Anyone who had this as wel? And did you manage to fix it, and if so, how? |
Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)
Am I right in thinking the latest firmware update STILL hasn't been released in the UK? Are any other countries still waiting for it?
What is really hacking me off is that new apps released, and old apps being updated, will be accounting for the new version of the firmware. At some point something will brick those N900s behind the curve. Can anyone explain the policy on firmware releases? I tried emailing Nokia but they simply never respond (I know, Nokia are not Maemo, but just thought they might take some responsibility for customer service). Ben |
Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)
There's no UK variant firmware yet. Take my advice and reflash to the Global firmware, you'll save yourself a lot of headaches in the long run.
Nokia don't seem to have any policy regarding UK variant firmware, forgetting to release Maemo updates for UK firmware isn't the first time theyve done it, firmware releases for the majority of their phones over the past few years are either delayed or never show up atall for UK devices. |
Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)
I am seriously considering it - just incredibly busy with work, took a lot to get it where I wanted it to be - and shouldn't have to reflash to a global variant. It is appalling customer support from Nokia - outwith the usual "go out and buy an iPhone" response you get on here.
Thank you for the advice. Am a loyal but increasingly disillusioned and frustrated N900 user... Ben |

Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)
That said, I don't know why there is a UK variant anyway. When I flashed the Global version I did not notice ANY difference at all from the UK one, it still defaults to UK settings etc.
I suspect the only difference is GPRS/3G settings being preinstalled, wherea on Global I instead got the settings sent automatically from O2 rather than being asked to choose from a list. |
Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)
hi people,
im a noob to the N900, so this may sound stupid but ill ask..... your all talking about upgraded firmware, can i do this with nokia pc suite's inbuilt upgrader thing ? i dont even know how to flash my phone, it sounds complicated and as ive only had it 3 weeks i dont want to brick it by trying to reflash. also would reflashing it myself invalidate my warranty ? my phone is a UK one and is running version 2.2009.51-1.203.2 unless im looking at the wrong thing ? |

Edit: For clarification, compare the firmware list shown by Navifirm under 3.2010.2.8 with 1.2009.44.1 (which has UK CV, firmware variant 203) and 1.2009.42.11 (which has UK CV variant 203, and Vodafone UK 205) - Even this list is incomplete as variants 203 and 205 have received OTA updates to 2.2009.51.1 despite neither being listed within Navifirm for this release (as no full firmware image for this version has been made available) and neither 203 or 205 has received OTA or full image updates to 3.2010.2.8. |

http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_firmware#Windows It's very hard to brick your phone by using the flasher, the only way youll realistically do so is if you disconnect / power down the phone in the middle of flashing. Beyond that, youll either get it wrong and the flasher won't do anything, or youll get it right and it'll reflash fine. |

Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)
Sorry for my mistake.
I was surprised though to see the list grow by so many regions this week. I have flashed mine from the USA region to Greek, but as mentioned before there really is no difference. Reason I did it was to see if the hardware keyboard can be switched to Greek, but to no avail. Only the soft keyboard changes alphabets even with this region specific firmware. As far as I can see it`s exactly the same as the US with the same options (I could do greek tin the menus and soft keyboard before) |
Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)
Thought I'd never see the day, yellow exclamation just started flashing and it's a maemo 5 update. Low and behold 3.2010.02-8 is here for 203 variant!!

Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)
I had problems updating (it told me I had to do it via the PC suite). I fixed it by removing the libgles1-sgx-img package, then I could upgrade over-the-air.

Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)
UK here, can't update, my app manager tells me to do it through software updater but updater tells me that software is already up to date (which it isn't) any suggestions?

thanks chainreaction.
i managed to get the "update" button to appear by uninstalling one package but i haven't got enough room in rootfs (df -h shows 29 mb) do you know how can i free it up? |
Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)
I can confirm rootf space is key
1. Do a backup 2. Remove lots of apps 3. ota firmware upgrade now works 4. Do a restore 5. Be happy A bit of a hassle, but I guess that's the drawback of installing from devel/testing |
