Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client

Just came update 0.1.2 for Harmattan... Player is Great... How to make cutetube -videoplayer default for N9?

And 2. question... now that ctube2 uses plugins... is htsp-plugin possible? Many of us may use TvHeadend... Also Vdr is popular (differend story)...

Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client

Is there a chance to Cutetube2 to be like Cutetube in the way that doesn´t need to have an account to see all videos?

I mean, now in Cutetube2 if a video requires to verify ages to be show, display the "no stream found" message, in Cutetube you can see all video.

I'm guessing that this is what happen, maybe i'm wrong, in desktop when a video is "mature" (or whatever), ask you to loggin to verify your age, in Cutetube this doesn't happen.

Or maybe is just another problem, but happen to me with at least 2 videos (that i know in desktop ask you for loggin).

And please change the white over the yellow when display the "no stream found".

Greetings.

I don't know how cutetube2 exactly works, but I know a simple workaround on the desktop to bypass the age restriction.
Most YouTube URLs take the form of:
Code:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEOID
Note the 11-character code at the end, and place it like so:
Code:

http://www.youtube.com/v/VIDEOID
Now you can watch without needing any account :p

Edit: Here is an age restricted video that you can try out:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61Ev-YvBw2c

Beware, Mature content!!!!! :p :D

Which browser(s) it works in? I just tried with Firefox on Windows and, after editing the URL as you suggest, it downloaded the video instead of playing it.

I also have Firefox on Windows. This lets you basically showing the "embedded" version of the video, which lets you skip the age restriction. It seems like you have some sort of downloader plugin installed, which prevents you to show it normally

I do indeed have Video DownloadHelper but I have just tried it on a colleague's FF without the plugin and it behaved the same way. Instead of playing, FF presented this dialog:

Attachment 37142

The colleague then tried it in Chrome and it played fine. Chrome will never touch any of my machines if I can help it but I tried IE and it played fine too. So it seems it's only FF causing problems.

Try using this link:

Same result?
What FF version are you using? I have 38.0.1

Yes, same. 38.0.1.

Just tried with a random non-content-protected video and got the same result too.

Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client

Thanks for Cutetube 2.

I've installed it on my N9 and N900. Also installed the local videos plugin. On the N900, trying to look at the local videos folder, I get the error "Unable to load paths from config file". Other than the obvious literal meaning, what does that mean? As in: what could I have screwed up and where should I look for the solution?

I tried saving a video from YouTube. Looking in the selected directory with terminal or a file manager, the downloaded video is there. Stock media player can kinda play it really jerky-like. (BTW, it plays ok live in CuteTube2.)

I can also search the local videos with cutetube2, and it will find the download video and play it -- but still in fits and starts like media player.

Nevermind the playback jerkiness issue. Was due to saving web video instead of MP4. The MP4 plays fine either way.

So what should I be checking for?

Edit. The specific error message comes from not having anything (which is the default) in the Plugins|Local videos|Directories field. If you put a legitimate directory here, then you will see the message "No videos found". There are videos there, if terminal and file manager are to be believed.

Cutetube needs video codecs from Nokia repos and they are down. You see that "gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-extra" is missing probably when you are trying to install any video player.

Latest cutetube2 (0.2.1) works great for me, including the convert to audio file!

Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client

Maybe is just me, but i preffer in the search window, to have one tab for videos, playlist, etc, and one for date, relevance, etc.

In the way it is right now in 0.2.1, all in one tab, when i look for a video (link youtu.be/whatever), if you search video (date or popular, try with those two), the video doesn't show.

But, if you look the same in video (relevance), the video shows.

I know is a desing stuff, but is easy in two separetes tab in my opionion..

Greetings.

When you search link (youtube.com/watch?v=whatever) it does show the video, so there's a different in the search with the short link.

Install the cutetube2 local video.

On cutetube2 go to settings.

On plugins should appears local videos, click on it.

Put the directory (example: /home/videosyoutube).

Once that done, go to service and select local videos, enjoy.

Note, to search a youtube or vimeo or dailymotion, you have to change again on service.

Greetings.

Just put this /home/user/MyDocs/, asuming that you have personal videos there.

Try calling the plugin from the terminal:

Code:

/opt/cutetube2/plugins/localvideos/cutetube2-localvideos
With no arguments provided, the plugin should fetch the first 20 videos stored in the tracker DB.

When you search link (youtube.com/watch?v=whatever) it does show the video, so there's a different in the search with the short link.

The reason for having only one list of search options is due to changes in the plugin API and to enable additional options without having to worry about filtering them depending on what type of resource you're searching for (some sort orders are only available for certain resource types). The actual search behaviour should be unchanged from the previous version.

If you provide the protocol (http(s|)) when entering the URL, you should be able to retrieve the video directly, instead of relying on it appearing in the search results. The YouTube API is basically broken and appears to be Google's attempt at trolling third-party developers. Prior to switching to version 3, I was hoping they might have simply fixed the issues with version 2, but instead they have removed useful features (latest subscription videos), and made it necessary to make multiple requests in order to retrieve the same data that was previously retrieved with a single request (e.g. no duration returned in video searches).

Characters are displayed as they should to me, but the search results do not match what I've searched for, just gives random Russian videos it seems

Also with Arabic. It seems that it is related to eastern languages. The search in Arabic previously was ending with (no videos found) but after the last update it shows videos not related to the required search and the results are in that kind of letters. However it is a great work. Thanks.

ekze 2015-06-09 19:53

Same for Russian (no videos found before the update)

Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client

Hi,

I manually copied ffmpeg 2.2.1 from the QtAV project at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/qtav.../FFmpeg/Maemo/ on my N9 to convert a youtube mp4 download to an audio file. CuteTube2 seems to detect the ffmpeg binary as I can toggle the button in the program. Unfortunately there's no conversion happened.
When I try to do it from the command line I get the error message "Unable to find suitable output format".
So maybe the ffmpeg I use is broken or was not properly configured
for compiling.
Has anyone a working ffmpeg .deb package for the N9?

Thanks
M.

ekze 2015-06-10 16:44

When I press 'dislike' button (thumbs down) it highlights 'like' button instead, shows that video added to liked videos list and adds +1 to the number of likes. Though it actually counts as dislike, you have to restart cutetube to see the difference.
