The missing packages are in cssu-thumb repo, feel free to retry.

(Don't forget to force HAM to update)

rtcom-messaging-ui-portrait (>= 1.0)

Hi.
I've flashed my device two days ago.
I've solved the problem of missing packages enabling both the "official" cssu-testing repository and the same mirror on skeiron.org.
Hope this helps.

Had same packages missing with only community-testing repository enabled. Installation went smoothly when in addition enabled the mirror:
http://skeiron.org/repo/repository.m...unity-testing/

Though now the skeiron repo throws a gzip warning on every update it didn't cause any problems during the instalation.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

I have finally just got around to updating my N900 to the most recent thumb update and am noticing that the CPU is now consistently between 40%-60% usage.
Using the "top" program from a terminal shell I see that
/usr/bin/hildon-sta and
usr/bin/pulseaudio are the two programs using the CPU.

I have tried rebooting the phone, even removing the battery, but the same thing is happening - CPU constant between 40-60%. I was running the previous thumb update for the last couple of months and this CPU issue did not occur. Any ideas please?

I'll issue a new update fixing that prolem, sorry for the troubles

I just tried your suggestion but it says "libpulse0 is already the newest version" - What version do I need & how do I check my current version please?

Ok thanks, that has allowed me to reinstall libpulse0_0.9.15-1maemo44+0m5+0cssu4+thumb0_armel.deb but unfortunately I am still left with the original problem of high constant CPU usage. I notice too that now after I reboot the phone the volume slider is set to the "muted" option. Wait, in fact I have no audio at all - no ring tone, no music playback nothing. Help!:)

seems like messed up pulse packages.

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

try it might help.

Also did you ever played with devel repository??

raaj13,

Instead of suggesting various things that may not help since his system reports he's on the latest version, give him the version number of libpulse0 that you think he should install with apt-get install libpulse0=XXXXXX ;)

I am not talking about libpulse package that he already installed the latest one.
Some of his pulseaudio packages might be of older version.
It's better to do a upgrade since more packages might be held back.
I would tell him package version of pulseaudio if i was running on thumb alone. But my N900 is running on thumb+devel so the packages version are quite different from thumb so can't mention that version number to him:D

I have
SSU
SSU (Testing)
SSU (Devel)
SSU (thumb)

Is there an SSU Devel Thumb as well?

What are the names of all of the thumb compiled pulseaudio packages? - I might try reinstalling them but not sure what they are called.

Thanks

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

OK I think I'm sorted now. I reinstalled pulseaudio and now the sound is back working again and CPU levels are normal.

Here is what I typed.
agt-get install --reinstall pulseaudio
and after reboot things appear normal. The only thing I'm now unsure about is whether or not I am using the thumb pulseaudio packages or the original non thumb ones - how can I tell?

SSU and SSU(devel) are disabled by default.
Don't enable them.

No SSU(devel) is not thumb.

by terminal
dpkg -l pulseaudio

but since the version naming of pulseaudio is so long it never shows fully what version it is.

maybe you can try to redirect the output to a text file and then observe it.

Nokia-N900:~# cd /home/user/MyDocs/
Nokia-N900:/home/user/MyDocs# dpkg -l *pulse* >pulse.txt
Nokia-N900:/home/user/MyDocs#

and then open the file to see the version.

libpulse-mainloop-glib0
libpulse0
pulseaudio
pulseaudio-esound-compat
pulseaudio-module-bluetooth
pulseaudio-module-gconf
pulseaudio-module-hal

should have same version.

or if you want to strain your eyes you can just lower the font size in terminal to 8 or 6 and then try
dpkg -l *pulse*

for me i cant see a thing at that font size maybe you can

i tried to install the cssu-thumb but when i tried to update the cssu it tell me that i need the pc suite to update that program, i went to the pc suite but it tell my "Running low on space", the program need 1.5G to install but i have 886MB.
i think that if i will remove all my program i will not have 1.5G free memory.

what to do?
thanks

pichlo 2013-03-13 10:18

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

"You need PC Suite to update" is a euphemism for "you don't have enough root space on your phone". Look here for an advice of how to clear up some root space but read it very carefully. Alternatively run the update from the command line but I won't tell you how because you can screw up quite badly if you don't know what you are doing and if you do know, then you do not need me telling you.

Amboss 2013-03-14 14:17

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

Another interpretation of "You need PC Suite to update" would be "please activate the appropriate repositories"

Alecsandru 2013-03-15 22:24

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

or you can use x-term:

apt-get upgrade

I tested that after a reflash, and hit the same issue.

Clicking on 'details' in HAM we have dependency problems:
application packages missing:
osso-systemui-powerkeymanu (>= 0.3.0.2+0cssu0)
rtcom-messaging-ui-portrait (>= 1.0)
system-services (>=0.3.8-68+0cssu1)
upstart (>=0.3.8-68+0cssu1)

apt-get install mp-fremantle-community-pr at the prompt yields the same results.

This is from a fresh reflash, so I suppose this is a repo problem.

My apologies for not being clearer. I know that there are manual fixes for the repository problems. The point was that we had a user reporting this problem a few days ago, and the answers pointed to another directions. However, following the installation instructions in the first post currently lead to this problem. So maybe updating the repository install script in the first post to point to the alternate repository (for now) would be a better solution. Please evaluate that.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

Hello sorry to bother.

I have installed thumb on the first days of the year and everything has went fine, but recently i tried to install some packages using "faster application manager" wich is way faster than the default package manager and is always given me permission denied or another app. using repositories error.

¿Should i add some permission somewhere, change any setting? I've been the last 5 minutes waiting for the default manager and it still didnt get 50% of the cyan bar completed... (updates check)
"Faster" is really faster than this one...

michaaa62 2013-03-23 17:55

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

Problem could be that the HildonApplicationManager is still slowly and lazily working its way in the background.
Because it is a system process, it might not really get terminated by the user.

But you could check your /etc/sudoers file for an entry of Fapman.

cssu-thumb updates comes with new cssu*-testing releasea - cssu-testing are stuck due to some technical problems with upload rights to cssu repos.

Anyway, freemangordon, is there anything else that can be (is feasible to) thumbified, or we're already on point, where you will just maintain up-to-date releases with cssu-t?

Any chance about some extras-thumb repo? Autobuilder should check the +thumb* suffix then for thumb. Or add it.
