I got that same call, but when I asked, he just said that it hasn't shipped yet. But I dont think he understood me, he had me repeat the question like 45 times. I was outside in downtown Chicago, so I think that's reasonable to have trouble :p

Dell is calling people? I have a preorder via them as of yesterday...still haven't received a call.

Grrr...I just went out and picked up a Motorola Droid this morning for the wife. This phone is fracking beautiful! I was so tempted to get one for myself, but I'm a true Linux geek...N900 all the way for me.

Fix 'er up Nokia and SHIP IT!

They haven't called me yet either... Also, N900 is no where to be seen on Dell's website anymore... Hmm... :rolleyes:

It IS gone...... This might not be good. We should not be surprised if we get cancellation notices. Not a good sign when Dell pulls a new product from web sales. I see two probable scenarios opposed to us getting our "good deals".

1. They cancel the order
2. They let the orders hang until we cancel ourselves.

They can claim they decided not to carry the N900- at least until this situation dies down.

Dell plays BOTH of these games. They are losing too much money already. If they accepted 1,000 preorders, counting free shipping, they are eating about $30,000. Will probably not happen. Dell would rather stop a delivery of product and let the "bad orders" purge themselves.

Might want to keep Newegg N900 link handy :eek:

I think the Dell calls are only going to people who had a mismatch between their billing address and shipping address. On top of that, I had just moved, so there was some confusion apparently about the billing address. I doubt you are being left out if you haven't been called.

OUCH!!! I have acquired many deals from Dell, but I was never this involved... I hope you are wrong... No offense buddy... lol :eek:

Pulling the product from their web site may be an issue for all of us that got "the deal".

I used to work for the company that makes their printers and I was involved with their marketing group for a while (supply and web channel planning).

I unfortunately know how they operate, but will be happy if completely and utterly wrong here :)

Now, where is that Newegg link.... ;)

I think they're trying to update the description of the phone cuz when I ordered yesterday, I noticed that the frequency doesn't include 1700 and it also says that it has MMS. Just like what happened with Amazon when they first posted the phone.

That is Opera Mini, Opera Mobile is just a normal browser no proxying or pre-rendered pages by default.

Nokia UK is direct I believe, mail order only. Nokia stores are Retail, MPD are only saying they will be the first "retail" stores to get the N900. Meaning they will get it before Carphone Warhouse, Phones4U, etc but not necessarily before Nokia themselves.

That's all fine and good, but, in the face of no press release sitting around anywhere, I'm going to believe a date that nokia.co.uk have given me - and many other people - every single time we've asked about it for a long time now. And that amounts up to a lot of times. Personally, I've spoken with at least 6-7 different people now. They're all saying the same date, without fail. That doesn't just come from invention or some other made up crap.

If you don't want to believe that, that's fine, and I'm not saying that it will happen - but I have no evidence to the contrary, and a lot of coincidental evidence pointing to it being correct.

I'm personally not bothered either way.

I jumped on this deal and canceled an Amazon preorder for it like many others... but if it doesn't go through, I think I will be happy with my N810 after all. I've been having serious second thoughts almost since I preordered anyhow. :)

I really hope it comes through, though. :o For everyone (who ordered)'s sake.

When I spoke with someone from the Nokia Online Shop last week, to recreate my order, he said something about "when it's released next week" twice in the conversation.

But then I asked "oh, is the release date next week?", he said no there isn't one yet.

So tantalising! :)

I have spoke with them on numerous occassions for over a week and each time they have said Monday for definite. By numerous i mean at least twice a day everyday.

Having done several stints in software+hardware product development myself, I feel very sorry for the Maemo Nokians right now if they are still fixing the last few bugs :D

This is a product to be proud of - I would be - and I hope the whole Nokia team feel rightly proud and glad with what they are doing right now, and wish them well.

I keep seeing the 9th popping up as a potential shipping date, does anyone know whats going on with amazon USA pre-orders? I went with them a month or so ago it seems everyone is dropping them for some reason?

They did - they were claiming a UK exclusive and in the emails they sent out to inform the n900 was delayed, they reiterated that they would have it before anyone else.
Im praying that they will ship it end of next week, if Nokia do indeed start shipping from the 9th, but that is just hope, I have no evidence to say they will..

Me too. My hope is that they are just being conservative with the 16th, but in fact they are going to get them some time next week and start sending them out - please let that be true!!
