Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
3g connection really discharges the battery quick. i dont have 3g on my n900 but i can tell because i am using a device that has 2g and 3g.
also, my n900 drains 10 percent of power every 30mins using joikuspot (n900 is the client and my n86 is the host). so ad-hoc connection also is a battery killer. but in any case, my only problem in mfe on n900 is the sorting of e-mails (unread, received and from). but i realy like the sync on the calendar. works superb! |

Hello,
I have a weird problem with MfE. I can not synchronize mail with exchange server. It kind of worked before. The problem started when I deleted and created same MfE account on my N900 several times ( I know but I will not go into details why for now). After I set it up first sync goes fine. I can send e-mail but when I try to manually run synchronization it fails with "Exchange server is not responding. Verify that account settings are correct." error. Any idea what is wrong and how to fix it without re-flashing? I am synchronizing mail and calendar. If I sync calendar only it works fine. If mail is included in sync it fails. I attached activesync log. I edited the log file slightly to change my company name to "mycompany" and my login to "myname". Thanks in advance for advise, -Pavel |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
@pavlik
try a full re-synchronization. it worked for me when i had the same issue |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
gaby131, thanks. Full synchronization does work while the "normal does not" - how wierd. Anyway I guess I'll be pressing two buttons now instead of one for the sync. thanks again.

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
I guess that must be a stupid question, who would have thought anyone would need to reinstall MfE, silly me.

well my bigger problem is that with MfE I can send an e-mail if I type a destination address but I can not reply to a recived e-mail. So I thougth that this is because of my e-mail alias and reconfigured it to be firstname.lastname@company.com instead of username@company.com - it did not help. I reconfigured it back and now I cannot even sync. |

you can get the domain from your workplace by asking someone who has e-mail on a mobile device. the server i believe must be like mail.company.com and port should be 443 (secure connection). |

in your settings, tweal the peak days, hours etc. i recomend peak hours should be always on and off peak should be every 15 mins. check the resync of your messages. select retrieve all if you want older messages to be synced. :) |

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
Thank you very much. Yes, it does look like my problem. I started reading the thread but somewhere on page 70 gave up and read a few pages at the end. Posting 1152 eluded me :)
Thanks again for the help. I would not have looked for m4eflders app |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
I had MfE ith Google working OK. Then came the new Ovi Update and I thought it would bring full synch support so I tried synching. Well it it didn't work nor does MfE for Google after my short adventure.
I have tried deleting the MfE account setting it up again, completely deleting contacts and calendar(N900) but it fails on the calendar synch. Had some strange problems with contacts but it seems ok now. The error I get is "Exchange server not responding". BUT a Full Resynch always works and the scheduled synchs works after that as long as I don't edit the calendar. I could live with this, just have to remember to manually go to settings and do full resynch, I thought I'd check if someone experienced something similar. |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
I re-flashed my N900 and configured MfE the first thing I did and now it works!

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
hi!
im having a hard time with the n900's mfe for the last few days. whenever it syncs, the synchronization always fails with an error banner "Configured server is not an Exchange server". well my first option was a reboot but no changes. i contact our IT regarding this and confirmed that all my settings and inputs are correct. i tried to wait until today, and if my mfe still fails, i need to run here. please advise, thanks. |

Anyway, I'd suggest enabling logging and seeing whether anything useful is reported. The other thing you could try is to delete the account altogether and rerun the setup from scratch. |

i perform a back-up before i delete and re-do my mfe, but still same results. thanks :) UPDATE: with some unexplainable reasons on my part, my mfe just re-sync! i mean it is working now!, before that, the warning banner says that Exchange account was disabled......then after that, the mfe folder was synced :) |

Anyway, glad to hear it's all working now - make sure you disable logging again though, otherwise you'll soon run out of rootfs space! |

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
You've uninstalled sysklogd? The rootfs space usage shouldn't be anything to do with logging then - have you checked to see where the extra space is being used (if it's fixed at reboot then it's probably under /tmp, as that'll get cleaned on boot)?

Code:
apt-get remove sysklogd everything is running okay now, still loosing rootfs space but the normal and usual way. thanks. :) |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
folks, i installed sysklog daemon yesterday night to troubleshoot a synch issue with MfE. and then i noticed something very interesting in the logs!
the calendar synch actually talks to the exchange server and retrieves quite a bit more information about an appointment. i see 2 critical pieces of information that i would love to have : meeting initiator / originator, and a list of attendee names + their email addresses. i've had a look at the sqlite db that used by the calendar app and did not see this information in the schema? i also do not see this information exposed in the calendar app. is there anyway to get this short of hacking camel and / or the calendar app? i would really love to get this information as this is the only glaring omission from mfe synch that i am missing from my windows mobile days. actually, the other glaring omission is when i get a meeting request, i have no idea WHEN and WHERE the meeting is supposed to be until I accept it, which is kinda pointless. any ideas on how to achieve this quickly and painlessly? |

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
Since this is my first post, i do apologize if this is not the right place to post this answer.
I have problems because making a profile in Mail for Exchange it actually does the synchronisation with Google server the first time when profile is created, but the profile is not saved and the button not present in the task bar with the option to do a manual sync. So anytime i start the option Mail for Exchange from the system menu, i should give all the credentials and start a new account which is then not saved...Any suggestions...Thank you. |

I have a wierd problem with MfE and my corporate e-mail account - I cannot send large e-mails. Sync works OK most of the time but when I try to send e-mail it fails.
Last night I first sent a tiny e-mail "2" in the subject line and "Small" in the body. It went fine. Next I tried to send slightly bigger e-mail. "long e-mail" in the subject line and "this e-mail will not go through for some reason" in the e-mail body. It failed. In the LOG I see: PHP Code:
I am running PR1.2 and installed MfEfolders and sync only Inbox. I read through this entire thread and WikI but did not find anything that helps in my case. Please help, I do not want to request a blackberry just to reply to corporate e-mails. Full logs of sending tiny and longer e-mail is attached in zip format. For longer e-mail log file is also attached in TXT. tiny e-mnail was sent at 00:16; longer e-mail (that fails) at 00:18. IMEI number and login/server names are replaced. I would appreciate any advice on this. |
