No, you'll need this one:
DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR_LEGACY_001-OEM1-958_ARM.bin

The file you mentioned in your post is a content file.

Thank you for pointing out the link in the previous post chilango!

I should have clicked it, but when I saw it I just thought it was some sort of notification about the servers being down, not containing any of the files needed.

So that is the only file I'll need for the re-flash, but I guess I'll also need the flasher tool for linux, is it somewhere as obvious?
Maybe this one: https://code.google.com/archive/p/navifirmex/downloads

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9

Hello everyone,

I am completely new. I have a Nokia N9 and forgot my security code. Since I typed in the wrong code too often I cant use it anymore, because when I start it, the Code must be entered.
I tried to install the Flasher but everytime when I try to start it, it's closing instantly.
What can I do?

Best Regards

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9

Hey @Capps,
Flasher for N9 does not require installation; the 'flasher.exe' file you have should be run via Command Prompt. I strongly recommend that you read the first post of this thread to avoid all the possible hardships while flashing.

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9

Thank you :)
The problem was that I used the Adminstrator UAC, which seemed to be the problem. When I tried without adminstration rights, it works finally.

Hello dear friends

My friend's problem:

His phone is on, but it has not any respond. Its power key is broken so he could not power off the phone by pressing it a long time.

Developer mode is on and NITDroid and Sailfish are installed.

Is there any way to reboot his N9 by flasher?

Thanks a lot

Might be difficult if the power key is not working as flasher can only push APE to a device when it boots...

Might be best to fix the powe key?

If he can ssh to the device he can poweroff from shell.

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9

Hi,

First time N9 user (better late than never, eh? Still using my N900 daily). I've just bought an N9 on eBay and sure enough it needs a reflash. As soon as I inserted my SIM it has locked itself & is asking for the security code which is unknown by previous owner. Phone has been in her cupboard for a few years. Don't worry IMEI checks out fine so unit not stolen!

But I'm a little stumped as to how I might reflash given all the links I have tried for flashing software seem to be dead.

What are my options? Seller has advised I can return unit if I want, but I'd love to see it working again. Is Naviflash available anywhere these days?

Cheers,
Stuart.

EDIT: Well I've found a copy of Naviflash, but it's trying to access www.dsut-qa.online.nokia.com & that is obviously not going to work. so need to think harder about other options!

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9

first of all: it is never late for N9 :D

so you have an N9 and the seller cannot even tell the security code? you can find some basic firmwares here. take a look. as far as i remember i have no EMMC for your region, but you can find the original main software. maybe someone will help in that case here.

btw NaviFirm is dead now cause Nokia started to reorganising their network sources in january and still no way to access for any official firmware servers.

(oh and you can also check the comment above you)

Woohoo, it lives again!! I managed to flash it after a few trials and tribulations. Couldn't get my flasher.exe to recognise it on my Win7 machine, so I installed the .deb version (into Fedora LOL) and managed to flash it that way. Thanks so much for your help, I'm actually kinda excited to play with it now. Have wanted an N9 since they came out so should be great getting to know it. Might have a go at a Sailfish install if i get bored... Cheers!

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9

Just to make sure. For the 001 variant of N9, I should flash

Code:

DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR_LEGACY_001-OEM1-958
DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.13-7.NOMAPS_EMMC_NOMAPS

There is also:
Code:

DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3.480.04.1_PR_LEGACY_480
what's that?

Please update the OP with the recent mirrors, the ones provided are offline. Can I get the correct md5sums from anywhere?

Yes!
For the eMMC it does not really matter which one you use.

That is the Switzerland Country Variant (the highest PR variant released, do only flash if there is no other available. Or you have a device with firmware already. Like me :))

If you trust me (and the version of DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR_LEGACY_003-OEM1-958_ARM.bin that I have downloaded years ago on my phone) then

~ $ md5sum DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR_LEGACY_003-OEM1-958_ARM.bin

Though, I'm not sure, if md5 for variants 299, 341 and 480 are correct. If anybody can confirm that they are ok, please do it.

Hi.
I couldn't recall any posts regarding this so here I go.

I found that by scanning the BIDI code in the "About Product" option in the Settings menu you can obtain the IMEI number (it is already there) and the hardware version of the device, which can be useful in order to find an appropriate image to flash in the device, or if you have just lost the top covers of the device.

Regards.

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9

Hi everyone!

So, I opened a Christmas gift early from my spouse yesterday (heh), and to awe, I received a Nokla N9.

I want you to imagine a grown man literally running around the house, ecstatic that he finally, finally got his hands on one of Nokia's greatest Finnish devices.

So, obviously the Ovi Store is gone, and I start working my way around the phone. I learn that it can install Debian packages. Sweet! So, first thing I did, right out of the box, was install FasterN9. Well....

The package installed, and the phone rebooted. And rebooted again. And again. Now, my screen will only display the Nokia loading screen, then "Device not working properly. Try updating the device software with Nokia Software updater. If the problem persists, contact the nearest Nokia Care point.
Software problem (ohmd) too many reboots."

Needless to say, I feel like I've made a terrible, reckless error and I sincerely hope that one of you fine folks can help to unbrick me.

I've searched the forums as well as I could, but I may have missed somewthing (Please link me if I did!) but I had the craziest time just downloading the flasher tool! I've attempted to use the flasher tool with no success, when I run an elevated cmd prompt with flasher -i, all I receive is "Device is in Sync and connect mode, sending ADL reboot.
ERROR: ReadFile(65540) GetOverlappedResult() error 2 timeout 4975 ms
Unable to detect flashing interface: standing by for device reboot."

I don't know for sure that I have the right firmware downloaded. How can I tell which shipped with my device? I do remember that there was a one-word carrier name, and another word after that, on my lockscreen... before I broke everything. The model underneath my usb port cover says Model: N9 357923040124051, but Google finds nothing of that infromation. It is the black 16gb model, and I am 99.9% sure that I had the UK/Ireland version. On my SIM tray, I see 059L3N7 - 16GB

Sometimes an ominous orange light comes on the phone's back flash. I don't really know how else to describe what it looks like. :(

If anybody, ANYBODY has any advice, or links, or even RTFM's for me, please let me know. I only had a chance to hold this lovely phone for one day before breaking it...

Also, I currently have downloaded NaviFirmPlus_3.2 for Windows, and the file that I am assuming needs flashed is downloaded to my HD as E7FEB593_DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.13-7.UKIRELAND_EMMC_UKIRELAND.bin. I also have Flasher.exe.

I'm also installing Debian on my Raspberry Pi B+ in the hopes that it will have better luck with reviving my device. =/

Thank you for reading my ramble, and please please please let me know if you have any ideas. This is pretty terrible. :(

EDIT::: So, turns out I was simply attempting to install the incorrect firmware. Now everything is working fine :) Aside from getting rid of all this ovi-required stuff.... but I'll take what accomplishments I can get!

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9

@andreasole
I do not really think that product code matters. All you need is to grab the last version of 001 variant (because of that table) — the file will be named DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR_LEGACY_001-OEM1-958_ARM.bin — and flasher for Windows (which I think won't run on Win10, so try virtual machine or liveUSB with Win 7 or Debian).
In addition to the links kindly provided by aspergerguy I would like to add my mirror (there are some troubles with the site certificate now, trying to solve them ASAP).
