Great app! I have one feature request which should be pretty easy to implement (hopefully):
- could you add possibility to open stream by typing (pasting) in an youtube url? Or just the video id if url isn't possible?

I often browse forums which has links to youtube videos and it would be awesome if I could just copy the link to clipboard and paste it into cuteTube which would then play the video.

I'll be uploading a new build later tonight, so I'll implement this feature for the new build. It will be a part of the 'search' feature. If you enter a valid YouTube video url in the search box, cuteTube will take you directly to the video info window, so you can play the video or view/post comments etc.

Thanks! After that I really don't have to open MicroB anymore to view random videos linked somewhere :)

FYI, you can already search on the video id (?v=<video id>).

It should be fairly easy, because there is not much Maemo-specific code, but I'm not sure what the status of Python is on Symbian 3. I believe Google are porting their official YouTube client using Qt Quick.

1) That feature has always been available:

2) This feature is also available. The application checks your download directory to see if you have previously downloaded the video (will not work if you change the filename ;) ).

3) I'm getting a headache just thinking about that one. Changing connections takes too long.

You complain about the 'Playing...' notification and then say there is no feedback. ;) I will probably add a progress bar or other notification when the player is starting up. This pause only occurs when you first load the window. The 'Playing...' notification is useful when you play a playlist, so you know which video is about to be played.

I am trying to solve the rotation problem. The window is set to landscape mode, but it seems that it inherits the auto-rotation from the parent window, so I need to find a way around it.

External player option is not coming back, because I want to make this application eejit-proof.

I might bring back the high resolution options for downloads, but I get sick of people asking why the 720p downloads will not play on the N900.

Hi I am sure this is just something I am not seeing. I am trying to do multi select to then dowload...

1) I do a search
2) I I then select multi select from the top of the screen.
3) select some videos.

now I see if I click and hold on a video I can add it to the queue. but that does not add all to the queue (right?). but sometimes when I click on the top (search results) it gives me numerous options that look like what you posted. but usually it just gives me new search and multi select. so how do I get the screen you posted that allows adding all selected to download? hmmm...

what am I missing?

call me dumb but I can't get it working :(

I select a few items. I then click on the top and I see
"new search" and "multi-select". reclicking either takes me to a new search or just disables what I have just selected via the checkbox. Is this some type of a timed double click that I am not doing correctly? because like once all those options did in fact appear...

what version you have?(top menu from main screen and about)

The behaviour of multi-select has remained unchanged from the very first release. To add multiple items to the download queue:
  • Click menu bar.
  • Click 'Multi-select'.
  • Tick desired items in the video list.
  • Click menu bar.
  • Click 'Add to downloads'.
