I wish my one and only one MfE would work.

I can send a short e-mail (a few characters only) but not longer e-mail from Mail from Exchange. Does anybody have this problem?

arora.rohan,

follow wiki

to get logs and post them here. Maybe someone has an idea or you will see smth obvious yourself. It is my impression however that this thread has been abandoned by Nokia's MfE developers and since Mail for Exchange is a closed part of the code nobody else can help.

Hi there,

does anybody know if the user authentication via certificate is already implemented or if this will be a feature of the upcoming PR1.3 release?

Thanks in advance.

@labra
you mention something about copying the cert. How do you get access to those directories ? I don't see them in my explorer ?

P.S. MfE don't work with PR1.3 either at least with self certs, I'm destroyed, wasting hours to make MfE work.
Why the hell it still tells me "requires secure connection or the account is deactivated blabla" if I say to ignore the insecure cert (just like with the iOS but there it works

MfE worked perfectly until I upgraded Maemo today to 20.2010.36-2.002, It syncs with the server with contacts, calendar and old email but will not received new mail. What logs do you need to troubleshoot.

I overcomed the missing provisioning support by using the method (davmail) discussed in this thread:

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=55867

To avoid having davmail running all the time I created two script to start and stop the gateway when the network interface goes up and down. It's a bit dirty but it works.

The problem was the datatbase backup file as advised by Maemo Bugzilla Bug 11475
https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11475

1. Delete /home/user/.activesync directory. I suppose, because of error 1) you
may need root privileges to do that. It can be done from x-terminal with the
command:
rm -r /home/user/.activesync

2. Delete activesync database. The first sync after reboot will take everything
from Exchange server again. Close email application before it. It can be done
from x-terminal application with the command:
rm -r /home/user/.qmf

3. Reboot the device.
4. Start sync if it doesn't start automatically. It can take quite a long time.
5. After the sync has been completed, run email application. If you don't see
folders, close and open it once again. It will re-read them from database.
6. Don't use that backup any more. It would be better to create a new one after
the sync has been completed.

Hi,

My company has just changed its name and consequently all email addresses will need to change. In my Exchange account settings the e-mail account field is greyed out. Is there a way to edit this?

no, the actual mail-address is set by the exchange server.
if it doesn't change, try recreating your MfE account, that should do it.

I didn't know she had a pony. How was I to know she had a pony? Who figures an immigrant's going to have a pony? Do you know what the odds are on that? I mean, in all the pictures I saw of immigrants on boats coming into New York harbor, I never saw one of them sitting on a pony. Why would anybody come here if they had a pony? Who leaves a country packed with ponies to come to a non-pony country? It doesn't make sense.. am I wrong?

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls

I tried to look for the solution in the thread, but I may either look for the wrong keywords or whatever...

anyway, I can make the configuration stick anymore in my N900. Everytimg I set up MfE and close it after the sync, it forgets it's there and asks me to set it up again...

Anyone knows why and what I should delete? ( I tried removing .activesync and .qmf, but with no luck).

PS: my experience with MfE and Google summarized in this post: Synching your N900 with Google (Mail, Contacts, Calendar) with no third-party tools or service.

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls

Hi,

Everything else in MfE in my N900 is working perfectly but can't send email. When i create a new email or reply, the mail gets stuck in the Outbox, and after a while it says "unable to send". And when something in outbox, the manual send/receive don't update the folders. Meaning it doesn't update the incoming emails manually either == does not refresh "last updated" timestamp. However, i can confirm a calendar invitation, it gets through always, and as mentioned everything else works smooth.

Sometimes, maybe less than 1/10, the MfE mail gets sent succesful. I have an IMAP account too on my N900, and no problems sending from that account via smtp.

Company Exchange/Activesync is ver 2007. I am using PR1.3 with powerkernel. However, i had the same issue with original kernel too.

Google and Maemo.org search did not help.

I would really appreciate comments/experience/help shared, on this very annoying bug. Thanks.

The only problem I've found with sending emails via MfE is that it doesn't like the standard address format (i.e. "Bob Smith <bob.smith@here.com>"), even though it automatically uses that format for replies. Just using the email address portion ("bob.smith@here.com") instead has always worked for me though.

I have a problem with the calender sync with MfE.
The mail and contacts work fine but the box in the MfE settingsscreen for syncing the calender is somehow untickning itself. If i tick it again it works fine but the next day the calender is not synced and if I look in the settings the box is unticked again.

What to do? I'ts drivning me nuts and I'm starting to hate my N900 :( :(

I am having a similar but slightly different problem to this.

Our IT people changed over the Zimbra server and now my Mfe account has to run without a domain name in the credentials. When I changed the credentials Mfe stopped sending but would receive. So I did a full credential reset and deleted .activesync and .qmf files but now Mfe starts initialising but drops off the server and fails to sync. I notice that even after removing .qmf and .activesync that on opening email my n900 begins to show the Mfe account then it disappears.

According to our IT people they have other Nokias (eg E71) running OK so they say it is not the Zimbra server set up.

Is there another file somewhere that I need to delete to get a complete clean reinstall of the credentials? Could it be something else?

Thankyou.

PS. After some experimenting I tried setting sync with no email and it successfully achieved Initialising Synchronisation and synced Calendar and Tasks but dropped out on Contacts.

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls

I am also contemplating a switch to Zimbra...but also considering Exchange 2010...

On another note - when you forward an e-mail from the mail application it shows as an attachment in the recipient's mailbox. Is that by design or is that "it's not a bug it's a feature" scenario :) ...

Have resolved the synchronisation issue as it was a proxy server problem. Still having problems sending mail. It is very slow to send.

Hmm, its strange, syncing calender have worked like a charm the past 6 months. Now I got the same problem.
Im syncing with Hotmail.
And the only significant thing I have done is a full re-sync a a few weeks ago, maybe its that causing the bug to apear.

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls

Hi all,
one easy question, how much memory space is necessary to be able to update exchange emails? I canīt update emails because on "not enough memory".

I can see:
-in Setting/memory: free 168MB of memory for installable application
-in Storage usage: free 91MB of RootFS memory and free 77MB of "/home" memory

So if I understang these numbers well, thereīs 77MB available for Exchange, but itīs not enough. Iīve deinstalled some programs (and games) and play a little bit with it. So 200MB is OK.

Does somebody know exact necessary memory space?
Is it possible to change the requested free memory space and decrease it? E.g. to be able to update although just 20MB is available?

thank you very much
Miroslav

Any ideas? Thanks.

Hello everybody,

I think I'm running into this bug:
https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9943

When I try to connect, mfe is asking for AAAA record. It gets a response, but the standart kernel is not able to talk ipv6.

Is there a way to prevent mfe to ask for a AAAA and directly ask for a A record (v4)?

In the mfe settings you can specify the "synchronise back" to a smaller period, i.e. less mail.

The tasks sync is TERRIBLE (reflecting Task handling on the n900 in general). I have never got it to work with google tasks.

I had a great setup using nuevasync to combine google calendar and a more robust task system (toodledo.com)

Worked flawlessly for 3 months, until yesterday that is.

Yes, most of us understand this is not his fault. Unfortunately what you say has 0 relevance to what I was talking about. I use a service to manage my information (nuevasync) who were helpful enough to provide log information that my n900 isn't even contacting their server.

Doesn't even try because I walked into a building and switched from GPRS to wi-fi and then lost signal in an elevator. How fair is that from a user perspective?

I even understand the official Nokia support has ended... but in this case it never really existed because this part of the product has been dysfunctional from the beginning.

I am so disappointed with Nokia right now and the problem is that that doesn't matter, because I barely ever mattered, and absolutely don't matter now. I'm not the user that buys Windows branded phones so I'm not the future of Nokia.

Hi,

I have some huge problem with as-deamon. It uses 90 % CPU and doesn’t do anything. I deleted all accounts and closed all internet connections. I can not kill the process and my battery holds only few hours.

What I can do to solve the problem with overloading by as-demon?

Thanks!

I had a working MfE setup to sync cal/contacts with google. As of this week, it stopped working. It returns failure immediately, as if it doesn't even try

Yes, I know this isn't supported. Yes I know about the trick to clear the n900 calendar. It has been working fine for more than a year, with the occasional hiccup which needed me to clean my n900 calendar to fix.

This is different.

The only thing I can think of is that I updated to the latest CSSU (up from the previous oe), and that maybe google enabled ipv6?

Any hints or share your experience?
