BB won't die too soon, they still make very good business phones, and businessmen will always place BB over any other smartphones existent.

Having a limited but loyal consumer base works for small companies, not for monsters like Nokia and BlackBerry. They would have to undergo massive layoffs to remain profitable while owning only 3-8% of the market.

Both nokia smartphone division and BB is doomed IMHO.

I just wait for this ridicilous parody of nokia to end

There's something very odd about that graph. And if you simply change "iPhone" to "iPhone phone" as one of the search terms you get a very different result

You jest. Businesses have been happily dumping BB over the last couple of years, as they discovered the original unique selling point (OTA push mail and sychronisation) was no longer unique and no longer outweighed the myriad design flaws, poor UI and limited applications.

Blackberry didn't release the Z10 and the Q10 because they thought it was a nice idea, they released them out of desperation and because they needed a phone that might be able to compete on an equal footing with the more dynamic, better focussed competitors who had shown up Blackberry for what it was.

Market share has been declining since about 2009 (source: IDC), and unit sales halved since the latter end of 2010 (source: Gartner)

They're so relevant today that whenever people see a Blackberry, its very presence has become a punchline.

No more of a punch line than Nokia or Windows Phone. In fact, there's a glut of mediocre products that miss the mark on much anything a consumer would want in a device and OS.

I just dont get this about 41mpix and taking photos with mobile from very long distance.

Are Nokia Trying to convince stealth photographers to take nude photos at long distance or what? I mean when you have need of a camera phone to take photos of the giant long distances? If you are on vacation or the like, then rather use a DSLR camera with really good quality.

To take everyday pictures my N9 fairly good soo. The only thing I could possibly want better quality indoor pictures but for that I don't need 41mpix rather little better lens and flash

which I hope Jolla will have, but doubt that they are even can par with the N9 :(

Despite WP8, hardware and especially the camera technology is quite impressive.

You would talk differently, if it would had Maemo/Meego/Sailfish. So would I..

It will propably do very well in the cameraphone niche. Not a huge, but still a decent sized market.

Not going to be a big game changer, but at least they did something right.

Nobody wants Windows Phone. It's not about camera pixels, number of CPU cores, screen size or resolution. Windows Phone is toxic to Nokia and all other manufacturers, but at least they have Android to fall back.

My newest phone is a Nexus 4. I could have gotten an iPhone or a Lumia for similar prices, but I hate Android the least and i am hoping either Firefox or Ubuntu will be released for it. If thr only selling point of the Lumia 1020 is a camera, I'm not buying it.

Just coming back from UK and France. Iphone dominant by far. Samsung here and there and a sprinkle of windows and S40 phones. Apple rules in France and UK. Not sure what Samsung includes in their smartphone line up, but iphone 4/4s are as ubiquitous as wearing shoes

LOL Firefox OS :O you do realise that OS is only for lowend and will only compete segments like Nokias Asha series?

iPhone 5's current UK market share is around 15%, iPhone 4S around 7.5%. I think we are lagging behind other advanced European markets in our rate of migration to Android (possibly due to longer contracts?) but most people I know who formerly had iPhones have now upgraded to an Android device of some form.

It's not only for low end, that's Mozilla's initial target but not the limit of their ambitions. Rumour has it Sony are considering a FxOS powered beast.

I doubt sony planning to release anything for firefox since it's so basic. In fact, Sailfish, tizen and ubuntu are all low-and OS since they lacking basic functionality. They are start ups. Let's see if they are alive in 3 years time, if so the big dragons might be attracted. Not now.

still doubt it. firefox os in current state and a quad-core, 2 GB, 1080 p won't sell :D LoL. The OS is not ready for the world wide users at an high-end level.

Everything because they are not ready yet. But have you ever had a first version up to pair on the first release. I have never seen that. It takes iterations. When I got the phones I can tell you more in detail, and I'm sure people will complain everywhere so you will see ;)

FxOS should be very customisable and Sony have a reputation for being creative, maybe their adapted UI will be a lot slicker than Mozilla's default one.

The Chinese can get a quad core device with 1GB RAM to market for around $150, I'd definitely like to see FxOS on something like that. The Alcatel and ZTE devices released last week are just too low spec.

Ah, I see. Having rough edges is different to lacking functionality though.

No, Firefox is lowend. Real smartphones needs native apps and can't only depend on Javascripts. HTML5 + Javascript only is just marketing bull.

I thought you were going to give me that tired old Mark Zuckerberg quote for a minute there.

The Making of Fastbook
Cut The Rope
Angry Birds

JavaScript's getting faster and faster, so are smartphones.

As speculation concerning a takeover intensifies.

Will the sales of NOKIA's feature phones have plummeted further this quarter? If so how will NOKIA subsidise the Lumias? How long will their remaining cash last once they've paid Siemens? Can Microsoft afford to let anybody else buy NOKIA?

Big Bad Ballmer indicated that Microsoft might go for their own phones so I think the window is closed for now. I don't see how it intensifies, but instead the other way around.
