You are probably right but I was referring to the review's content, not the source..

Trusted reviews, is that not some kind of review aggregator?

The name alone makes me expect not to find any in house reviews over there, so whenever the name turns up in a search engine (in which trustedreviews is quite skillful) I try to avoid it and look for the source.

Edit: checked the trustedreview site, at present they show as a full review crew , seem to be very real - so they are orginator as you say and further comments pointed out, thanks

Short question: is there anybody else who was under the first contributors on indiegogo, received the invitation for the order a few weeks ago, paid the tax but hasn't heard anything since tgeb from jolla regarding delivery since then?
still waiting and being jealous to the "real" early birds who already got the tablet :(

There are a few of us here. I was fast with contributing and fast with the tax, but apparently it didn't help. I sent a message to the helpdesk just because :D Haven't heard anything yet.

Could we please try to clarify on the rumor that only 64Gb versions have been sent out as of yet and those already finalized their order but did not recieve one are waiting for 32Gb versions?
Thanks!

EDIT: Added "64GB/32GB V" Column to the sheet.
Sorry, i was to lazy to collect from the beginning...
I invite you to place a comment in your row or drop me a PM.

EDIT: rumor confirmed officially!

That is certainly the case for me. Waiting on a 32Gb tablet

EDIT: Also the order number for me in the spreadsheet is wrong (my fault!). Should be #128, I originally put 125

Waiting for 32gb

How can you tell at what number your contribution is?

There is a Google Doc with the numbers, linked a few pages back.

But that's self-reported, right? So . . . how does one know the contribution number to give to mosen to put in the spreadsheet so that one can then refer back to the spreadsheet to read the number?

I've placed an order, I've checked IGG, I read my emails and I've been following this thread, and I still don't know where I'd get that info.

Polite suggestions/corrections/explanations welcome.

There is this file on dropbox, which is apparently a list of all contributors sorted by contribution time/date. As long as you didn't check the anonymous option when contributing on IGG, you should find your number there.

Re: Jolla tablet countup to delivery[Now With Poll]

Aha! So the number in the "profile" field is the number in the URL of one's profile page and the "N" value is the IGG# in mosen's spreadsheet?

Oh man, that puts me way down the list . . .

Re: Jolla tablet countup to delivery[Now With Poll]

Add me to exel spreadsheet if you will. I pre-ordered / contributed to Jolla tablet in Indiegogo second wave Dec 9, 2014.
Early bird 64GB upgrade afterwards. https://www.indiegogo.com/individual...utions/9152932
So I'm to receive an invite to Jolla Shop at week 45-46 probably. Right  ? No mail or spam so far from Jolla.

EDIT: N: 7337 in the dropbox list.

Yes, there was a blog entry earlier this month that apologized for the continuing delays, and gave a basic prediction for the future:

Quote:

The good news is that we are shipping the first batch of the tablets now. At the same time we are preparing the second batch and aim to start shipping at the beginning of November. Finally, and assuming all goes well, we aim to start shipping the remaining of the Jolla Tablets during December 2015.
Here's a graph from that blog, showing this schedule:

https://cdn-blog.jolla.com/wp-conten...ule_image.jpeg

So yeah, there's still a couple of weeks before the second wave is scheduled to begin, and even then it'll be December before any significant volume of tablets appear...

Supposedly KMail will be fixed by then. And the Flikr uploader in Kipi plugins, maybe. So with the Jolla tablet, next April will be cause for much rejoicing. :)

Unfortunately the invitations to 2nd wave shipping seem to be late if they still take 10 business days for shipping preparations. Hopefully this means that they have shortened the preparations window, and not new delays relative to the draft schedule in the graph. In the other hand I would not be surprised if there would be some slipping in the schedule at the ramp up phase.

Basically, we should believe in this schedule because Jolla has finally experienced what it takes to manufacture and deliver tablets using their partner in China. Now that they've actually manufactured a few hundred tablets, they've got knowledge of just what it takes to get components, move those components to the factory, get the factory to actually build the product, get the product out of the factory and into their fulfillment center, and finally ship the tablets out to the backers.

Personally, I'm fairly certain they'll have something for the November wave, although not a whole lot. Whether they can finish the entire Indiegogo set by December, I'm a little less confident... But still, they now know what they need to do in order to get things moving in China. (And yeah, it isn't as cheap or as simple to produce goods in China as everybody seems to think...)

We shouldn't forget they managed to produce 10,000 phones, its not like the whole process is new to them.

But were they using this particular factory to do that? (And I've gotta admit, I don't understand some aspects of their phone production, such as the inability to come up with batteries for a phone that was designed to have a replaceable battery... :) )

Thought of the day: if Jolla could harvest energy from all the rants about the tablet, they would have a device that is truly #people #powered :D

It is not simple to order (produce) goods in China if you need to deviate from the reference design tablet.

Because it needs a firm level of communication and clearly established requirements being understood by the equipment manufacturer.

Jolla calls for a meeting to discuss display quality found below par, asks if display can be changed to an improved model and of course the equipment manfucaturer replies with a standard "that would be no problem" ,and then it starts:

We can change display but device will be 2 mm thicker to fit.

Would that be ok for you?

No? Ok, pls wait while we find other display.

We have found display but there is problem, it need change connector and...

We can only let manufacture small batch like yours within ...delay ..

Every change Jolla has requested seemed easy on paper but will have posed delays in execution and a lot of communication headaches and back and forth sending of proto-devices to test this or that feature.

But it is not so that Jolla is sourcig and moving components to or in between factories. That is all done by the Chinese / Taiwanese.

If they say they are moving displays to the laminate factory it does not mean those European Sailors on the blog pictures are actually involved. They are doing the packaging and sending.

Jolla got this information about lamination and address writing mistakes from their equipment manufacturer.

I am actually pleased that Jolla did not compromise regarding acceptable display quality.

Q: Is there any tablet owner here that could confirm the lowest possible brightness is hurting the eyes in darkness or not? One of the features most appreciated of my old Kindle is the reading in the dark friendlyness. (better than Jolla phone)

Re: Jolla tablet's Mega Delay Delivery Thread[Now With Poll]

This just appeared in my email:
Quote:

Dear Jolla Tablet contributor,

Big thanks again for completing your order for the Jolla Tablet contribution! You may have noticed from our earlier communication that we started shipping the first Jolla Tablet batch to customers, and will soon start to prepare the next batch of devices for delivery.

As you have been among the very first contributors to the Jolla Tablet campaign on Indiegogo, you have been invited to complete your order for the Jolla Tablet 32GB in the very first group. However, due to last minute changes in production scheduling, the factory was not able to assemble the 32GB version in time for the deliveries and we haven't yet dispatched your order.

We anticipate that your 32GB Jolla Tablet will ship during November. Your orders are top priority and are next in line for dispatch.

Thank you for your continued patience, we are getting there!

Sail on!
Jolla Team

I'd like to add that there also has to be strict QA in place. Back in times when N900 was created, it was also designed in Finland but made in Korean factory (if I remember it right). Behind the scenes the need for extra QA was mentioned as the manufacturers at times tried to cut costs by replacing components without notice and all that sort of things. So, it really is not something you just order and expect to be delivered, you will have to have some serious QA in place. Otherwise you will be screwed badly, especially if you are "nobody" in the business with only small manufacturing batches.

What a BS. They have experience with communication and delivery problems and they repeat it same way, so apparently they never learn :)

Oh, and stop complaining about delays, they promised to deliver at May, they would deliver at May(who cares what year and that HW is becoming old in less than a year, while they have not top one from announcement)

Yup. They're just an awful, awful company. They don't know what they are doing. They are the worst hardware company ever. And I'm sure you're just giggling away behind your keyboard telling us this over and over and over again. Yup, you're the real winner here, ZogG.

Quote:

Yup. So, have you purchased a new tablet lately ZogG? Because of course all of us throw out our hardware every 12 months, anything older than that is entirely useless.

pichlo 2015-10-26 17:53

Re: Jolla tablet's Mega Delay Delivery Thread[Now With Poll]

But, Cop, your "new factory" posts are just as repetitive as ZogG's "everything is lost" ones. To be fair, the "new factory" arguments sound like a desperate attempt to justify the delays. "They produced the phone, didn't they" sounds like a valid point.

Yet, your theory may stand simply because whatever teething problems they had with the factory during the phone production were less visible and all sorted out by the time they started taking preorders, unlike now. Maybe there even were fewer problems because Jolla was new and not quite so hemorrhaged of money 3 years ago with fresh investments as they are now.
