What's loader?

Flashtool Version 0.9.23.2. Unknown sources allowed on phone. USB debugging on.

Would be nice to backup the DRM-keys.

I gave up. Now when I tried to create a bundle with FlashTool it kept hanging. I've had enough, I will unlock the bootloader without backing up DRM keys.

Wise choice, I decided to do the same after repeated head-banging trying to downgrade the bloody box...

The tools are so horrible, I mean why anyone bothers to make anything like that as non-console tool, and to top it off, in java!

You may have to do a
Code:

devel-su chown nemo:nemo /media/sdcard/UUID
After this is should be read/writeable and mounted on startup

Are you trying to flash under Windows? I had exactly the same issue until I installed the specific drivers that come with Flashtools (.exe found in install_dir\drivers). Then I could finally flash the old MM image (it still kept complaining about the missing loader, but did no longer abort the flashing process).

Quick question looking for a short answer, please.

Is it a problem if the f5121 is provider branded (Telekom logo at boot up) but simlock free?

I have a 180€ mint condition used offer i would like to accept or decline in the next hour.
So, will i be able to flash a Telekom branded Xperia X?
Thanks in advance!

provider-branded models usually don't allow you to unlock the bootloader, which is the essential part of installing SFOS on the device.
You can check this by dialing "*#*#7378423#*#*" (or *#*#SERVICE#*#*) and then select "Service Info" -> "Configuration". There you need so have the entry "bootloader unlock allowed: Yes". If it says "No" or the entry is missing, you can't unlock the bootloader and therefore not install SFOS.
If you can't check the setting, I'd refrain from the purchase as provider-branded devices usually don't allow for that.

To my understanding it's really depends on if bootloader is unlockable. You can ask the seller to check in Android developer options.

Can you ask them to check if the bootloader is unlockable?

Quote:

from https://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/
  1. In your device, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
  2. Tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Thanks for clarifying.
I will try to get the seller to test it.
Still possible that telekom sells unlocked but branded phones.
Question answered.
