Not that the project should have necessarily taken it into consideration per se... but having no knowledge of it what-so-ever throughout initial development? Titan's kernel is one of the hottest TMO topics . Anyway, hope it's sorted so power users can eventually check out fcam. |

He didn't. In this case though, to be honest, the developer(s) have stated they were not aware of the Titan kernel somewhere in this thread at least once or twice. So... it's an oversight on their part, but one that's rectified by going back to your stock setup. Which... is child's play. |

Either way, I hope they or Titan come up with a resolution soon. I wonder if Nokia as a corporation is in the dark about the fantastic community developments the same way as these developers. Afterall, this Fcam project is a huge and time taking development, I would think that at somepoint, even in testing, that they (anyone on their R&D and Testing teams) would have ran into this issue. That leads me to believe that none of them are N900 "owners" or are a part of the Maemo Community and lifestyle or care much about getting the max (overclocking, custom kernels, alternative OSes) from the N900. Is Nokia that sheltered that the developers were only handed stock N900s and not one of them really "used" the device as we (the people who paid for them because we like the abilities) use them? Maybe Nokia told the Fcam Team: "Avoid anything that will void the warranty or harm the device as we do not encourage alterations to the Maemo code base beyond what we approve, announce or release to the public and are not liable for any damages caused therby" Who knows :D |

It's entirely possible for them to not be aware of Titan while developing this. My guess is they've been busy, you know, working on the code, designing experiments, and writing papers. Cut a little slack! :) |

You cannot expect every developer to know every single application that exists for the N900 and how it may or may not impact another application. |
Re: Nokia has exciting news for N900 users
Cluelessness is relative. Who's more clueless?
Someone who know's about titan's kernel, but can't program a lick of snot. or Someone who can write Linux device drivers and camera apps, but doesn't know about titan's kernel. now stfu |

Gotta say that I love the tags.

Re: Nokia has exciting news for N900 users
I am not saying anything against the devolpers. I never called anyone clueless.
They know waaaayyyy more than I do as do most of you and if anyone is clueless, it is I. I only found it surprising that he stated that he didn't know, considering my understanding of how large of a project Fcam is and how long it has been in development and that the N900 was the chosen platform. I don't know much about programming (I am a hardware tech) but by being a member of this community and following news about the N900 around the web, I became aware of overclocking the N900 and Titans kernel. If you have seen my recent posts today, I can't even figure out where to download the original kernel for the N900 by myself so I can't speak negativity about anyone concerning their knowledge and efforts. I apologize if I offended anyone or appeared to be ungrateful/disrespectful for their devolpment. As a mobile photographer (N82 based) I appreciate their work as it is in line with what I have been trying to prove for the last 3 years: Prove that mobile photography is a viable solution and that you can achieve fantastic results at a fraction of the cost while saving on portability. |
