Re: [Announce] USB hostmode beta release
@joerg_rw
I'm sorry you're getting frustrated with the community. I sometimes find it annoying that people can't be bothered to read a couple posts back too. However, I might point out (not having read more than perhaps 10 pages of the thread myself), that I could understand if some people wouldn't read the first 10 posts every time they looked at the thread. Perhaps MohammadAG could put the relevant information in the first post, which is what I assume people would have read before posting anything. |
Re: [Announce] USB hostmode beta release
joerg_rw,
I think that this thread has been rather un-noisy compared to several others. Remember that there are people who have thanked you and MohammadAG. .edit Also please use WIKI for making guides/manuals. Not in middle of thread. |
Re: [Announce] USB hostmode beta release
For you guys
Stop bothering developpers and make useless posts. I understand that you dont know so much but stop it. Only bad things can cause. Start reading, its not bad. |
Re: [Announce] USB hostmode beta release
sigh. I ve problem cant copy file from n900 to flashdisk which is FAT32, nor filebox. thats wierd . cause yesterday I can copy file from n900 t other usb flash which is same format.
should I mount with this mount /dev/sda1 /media/FAT32. same happen while I plug my N86. but cant copy from n900 to N86. but FAT format work flawlessly. is this happen only to me. or cause I use modification usb adapter fm to fm which is taken from usb adapter fm to m. oh anyway how to make it become unread only. caus in filebox acces permission denied. what it is mean ? Re: [Announce] USB hostmode beta release
Thanks for this exemplary report. You did comparative tests, with a new device not yet seen here (N86), you bothered to go through dmesg log and pasted important parts (though actual hostmode happened some few lines earlier). I'm glad to help.

If they are, then we'd need the dmesg from both the working and the non-working case, with a bit more header (maybe 50 lines more), to tell exactly what failed for you. Quote:

So basically for h-e-n hostmode this is 100% success. The above line has been defined as a flag about which problems belong to this thread, and which ones are better posted to the http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=65570 problems thread. Anyway, while I'm at it, I'll continue here for this time Quote:

Your N86 *could* have a different format, not FAT. E.G. NTFS might also be possible. Also: Sometimes things like this can be seen when you have superfloppy format instead of partition table. You might try to mount /dev/sda instead of /dev/sda1. Before you do, make sure you got backup of the N86, as mounting a partitioned drive as a superfloppy is dangerous. First of all, and best test you can do: If you can access N86 flawlessly from your linux PC, then do a mount and a df -h on the PC, after you connected (and mounted?) the N86. In mount's output you should see how it's mounted there, and you can use same type of mount command and parameters for mounting the N86 on N900. Same applies for your flashdisks. If you can see them in dmesg, but they fail to mount, do the suggested tests, and report there: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=65570. That thread is about problems with mounting etc. If you don't see a line like [ 568.285278] usb 1-1: Manufacturer: xxxx for any of your USB devices, then report here, and include the dmesg log for the full process (you can do a dmesg before you start h-e-n, and write down the timestamp of the last line. Everything after that line, printed by h-e-n faulty connect, should go here). Please also include a detailed description what you did, in which sequence (like "plugged in memstick ACMEstore to adaper and N900; started h-e-n GUI, touched HS button, after 5 seconds I did...") Thanks you for the report, good luck jOERG |
Re: [Announce] USB hostmode beta release
Does someone knows here if the "Nokia CA-157" adapter is compatible with the N900 for low power USB devices?
I saw that it cost's only 4,60$ (free shipping) @ http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.51045 |
Re: [Announce] USB hostmode beta release
Crogge: The end of that cable is not shaped right. You would have to file two of the metal corners off.
