It took me a week to create a really really really crappy and somewhat buggy foursquare app, in Qt (which I had never used) for maemo (OS for which I had never developed).

Sure, it takes months to polish, but I'm still wondering why there's not even a pre-alpha dev-release yet.

I wouldn't release it until it perfectly emulates the protocol otherwise they might block it. You guys crying for him to release it probably don't want that to happen so I would be careful what you wish for...
Also, quit demanding updates. It's not the tgalal's full-time job to work on this, you're lucky if he has a few hours a week to do this. You want him to come here every day and say "sorry, I didn't have time to work on this"? Maybe you should try asking if you can do his laundry or make him dinner so he has more time. lol.
