I think this is the point. If the device are boxed up, they would not be wasting time now. I think they were waiting to flash and then box. They will probably ship to retailers as each pallet is filled up of product and there will be a wide distribution of dates people actually get their devices.

If they were boxed already, they could determine a ship date and organize adds around a date. No hard date, so no boxed phones yet.

This product is launching "soft" as they say in marketing.

If they were going to flash them then thry wouldnt have stated the 9th, even more so with a weekend just before the date!

Hopefully we get an official final date from Nokia next week. If not, then they really are amateurs. How can giving out a release date be harder then developing the phone itself? LOL

Can not give date if you have no boxed devices for shipping and that is the point why there are probably no boxed units at this time.

No official Nokia person has published the 9th or any other date. Just that it "should" ship in November. This means we could see phones delivered in December.

A Nokia sales rep on a phone line usually knows about as much as you do or less, since they are not obsessed with getting every piece of info about the device. They are there to answer calls based on scripts they are supposed to comply with and collect their paycheck.

In Portugal official store is not answering emails asking for the releasing date. By phone they say they have no date...

An unofficial source told me our phones will be supllied with ovi maps version 3000 and it will be possible to drive in the moon and avoiding there all the traffic...:D

Peter said that Nokia would give an official announcement before shipping (now whether that's the day before or the day of who knows). But I doubt a Nokia sales rep would know if Nokia hasn't put out any information yet. Nokia is way to disorganized for that. =P (just look at the launch of the n900 as proof).

Nope. People here are obsessed with the device so vectoring information from many sources to try and derive a delivery date solution.

Most Nokia reps (might be a few N900 fans) only know what information they have been given.

This will be a perfect litmus to the issue. If product ships on the 9th, I stand corrected.
