No it's not. After the start they should be there to monitor if any problems arise. That's why it would've been better to release it at noon.

And that can’t be done from home? You do know we work globally now right. Kid in one hand laptop in the other ;)

Plus, don’t expect it to work well tonight with so much work done last minute. :D

I think Jolla guys are having a party and laughing at us while watching on a giant screen their nginx webserver logs: "look! they're hitting F5 like there was no tomorrow!" "OMG, the IP addresses count is steadily rising!" - "OK, let's enable it..." (presses Enter).

BOOM!! Just bought it and paid with Mastercard. Now downloading

Sweet, I notice they accept Visa. Does that mean a Visa from any country of origin will work?

Oh man, so excited. I can't buy it until tonight, so hopefully that will remain the case! Way to go Jolla, releasing on time! Thinking maybe I'll contact them and offer volunteer support to give them a break to be with their families for a few days. LOL :D

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Bought, downloaded and successfully installed on my F5121. Didn't needed any Emma tool as my device came updated to version 34.3.A.0.238 (although 34.3.A.0.228 seems to be sufficient to not having to use Emma), I could just flash using the script (after unlocking the bootloader of course).
Device booted fine and I could install the extra apps (Alien Dalvik etc) from the Jolla store.

Just now I realize how much effort I put into customizing my Aquafish / Jolla C. Now to install all those apps, tweaks, adjustments etc....

Mine is still 34.2.A.0.333 (Android 7.0) and I would gladly avoid to download 2.6 Gb to update to 34.3 for the few seconds needed to flash SailfishX (I have only UMTS here).

I guess the only real reason to update to 34.3 is some repartitioning for the Sony blobs. Can you post your actual partitioning scheme?

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Can someone with an installed official Sailfish X image test if the BTRFS driver is compiled in ?

In the shell (ssh, finger terminal, whatever) :
Code:

cat /proc/filesystems
Does it say "Btrfs" in the list ?
Example from my Jolla 1 :
Code:

nodev  sysfs
nodev  rootfs
nodev  bdev
nodev  proc
nodev  cgroup
nodev  tmpfs
nodev  devtmpfs
nodev  debugfs
nodev  sockfs
nodev  pipefs
nodev  anon_inodefs
nodev  devpts
        ext3
        ext2
        ext4
nodev  ramfs
        vfat
nodev  autofs
        fuseblk
nodev  fuse
nodev  fusectl
        btrfs
nodev  functionfs
nodev  oprofilefs

Thank you very much !

Seems like EMMA does not work with F5122 as it just gives me a message saying "No available services matched the connected device" :(

Downloading now... So slow because using a free VPN [emoji25] Maybe someone could upload the official image? Or any image is unique for every account?

Pretty sure there is no US version of the device, as long as it isn't carrier-branded. Mine (that I bought through B&H Photo and Video in NYC) says F5121.

Don't you have service in Germany where you can create virtual credit card, transfer money to that virtual credit card account and pay via it?

Do any tablet backers receive the question how their refund should be used and if it should be used for Sailfish X?

perhaps none really knows at this stage, but wondering whether the sailfishx license, if bought day n is valid until 11.10.2018 (with regards to updates etc), or if it will be valid until n+1year? having an xperia x performance, and wondering whether it's just plain stupid to buy sailfishx license now. if that license somehow later may be used for the xperia x performance (F8131). just thinking it would be nice to show support by buying the license right away, but of course not all that interested in simply throwing money away, if it means i would have to buy a new license later in case they officially start supporting the xperia x performance. or any other xperia model for that matter, like the F5122, xperia x compact, etc.
also assuming that the downloadable image for F5121 won't be bootable on the F8131.

We just can speculate about what James said once in the blog that is something that this "the license will be attached on your Jolla account, and you will be able to use in one device and the time (maybe in the future will be anothers devices available? And you will be able to use the licence you bought for that device?)"

Had that a few days ago, on the 4th - I used part of the outstanding amount to pay for SailfishX in full :) Received a token code to use, but didn't need it today, when I logged in to my Jolla account I was taken straight to the download area.

Suggestion for you: Opera web browser comes with a built-in free VPN service with servers in Germany and Netherlands. Those VPN servers are really fast and there is no data limit. Just install the latest Opera then go to Menu->Settings->Privacy and Security->Enable VPN. After that, click the little blue VPN logo in the address bar, turn the slider on and select Netherlands or Germany for your server. I'm amazed that Opera does this for free. Easy and fast. Mucha suerte!

It would be fair to use for free now. Pay half 2 years from now. And the rest later if you can afford it :D

that's certainly one logic: you buy one license one device, and you can change the licens to be applied to another device for whatever reason.

makes me wonder what'll happen to Jolla1 and JollaC, the former which is listed twice on my account. will i have to purchase separate licenses for them in the future, in order to keep them updated?

again just thinking out loud, if i want to have sailfishx on several devices, would i have to buy a separate license for each device. i can seee the logic there, although not particularly keen on it.

it'll be interesting to see whether AD and exchange support licenses will somehow forcibly stop working after the license expires, or has this been clarified not to happen?

Don't want to those extra fees just to get SFOSX

Maybe in the future there'll bring more payment options.
Until then I'll be fine with the community build.

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Arrrrgh:
Quote:

Note: If you are a Linux or OS X user, your device's Android version is lower than 34.3.A.0.228 and you have already unlocked your device's bootloader, then you will need to use Windows for one step of the flashing procedure.
(...)
You need to make sure your Xperia™ is running the latest version of Sony's Android, as a recent change was made to allow the installation of Sailfish X. If your device still has its bootloader locked, then you should be able to update to the latest version of Sony's Android using the built-in Over-The-Air (OTA) update mechanism. To get to the latest version you might need to perform several upgrades.
(...)
Enter your e-mail address, accept the terms and conditions, then submit the form. You will receive an email from Sony giving you a link to click in order to access the next stage... Open the link in the received e-mail and enter the IMEI code of your device (18 digits)... Now read and follow Sony's instructions...
From the included flashing-README.txt

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

Somehow I expected that it would be easier to flash this on Windows (like just using Emma tool and nothing else).

However, it was slightly more complicated than on Linux, with extra steps like driver installation, since it could not find fastboot drivers on my win10 box automatically.

But if you used Flashtool from XDA, those steps you already did, that is my case

Wow, that seems harsh. I have an account (Finnish Bank, not even one where I have a regular bank account) which charges 0,5e for transfers under 50e and 0e for above it. And the virtual credit card costs 1e per month. Wasn't aware those kind of services cost so much elsewhere.
