Re: Frustrating PDF, ebook, websurfing thoughts with N810
Well thats not entirely the issue. It just so happens that most of my ebooks are in chm format and everytime i extract the HTML files from the CHM i lose the TOC which in essence makes it pointless as I have said before they are all textbooks. Most of which have images of diseases and the such.
Maybe in the end i'm asking too much out of the tablet. I dont really mind waiting for it to load or even if i need a massive swap space as long as it is readable and relatively smooth once its open. |

FYI, it takes a tad longer to do the conversion on the tablet. Recently a 900k book took somewhere around 2-3 minutes on my N800. I did not time it nor did I realize when it actually finished. But compared to doing the conversion on my C2D laptop, which took a handful of seconds, it seemed like an eternity. But in reality it was not bad time wise at all. |

Setsai, it could have been me writing that post a few years ago.
I got an ipod touch 2nd gen (JB) and chucked all my pdf and chm files as they were and they load great with mutitouch as a bonus. Next to no lag when scrolling too. The out of memory message on my n810 used to make me pull my hair. Theres a pdf annotater too but its not a patch on xournal. I can vouch for converting pdf to mobi 'images'. They load quick even on my nokia phones but without TOC. |
