Re: N810 OWNER ALERT, is your internal memory corrupted or will it be soon?

I have a N800 that had a similar problem. Corrupt swap file, and unable to release virtual memory. I was able to fix this by rebooting the machine and going immediately to Control Panel>Memory>Virtual Memory and unchecking the box (It seemed that since Virtual Memory had not been used yet it could be released). After this I copied my data over USB to my laptop, and used the File Manager to format the chip (SanDisk 4GB SDHC). Probably won't work in all cases, but should be much easier for the complete newbies.[/QUOTE]

Thanks, that seemed to have worked for me as well.

Yes. There are examples in the README. Sadly you can't install it without gaining root and it is not exactly newbie friendly.

Sorry, for the newb question but how do you backup your internal memory card to your computer and then restore the settings if you don't have a micro sd card?

Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the help!

Since I just discovered this thread a little while ago (and now discovered I have the affected problem) there are two easy options to backup without an SD card.

1. Bluetooth (i did it this way). If you have a bluetooth on your computer, you can send the files you backed up (should be in Internal Memory/backups/XXX (whatever you titled your backup)

Just go to the folder, File Manager/Edit/Select All, and then File Manager/File/Send/Via Bluetooth

If you detect your computer, it should send the files correctly.

2. Wireless Share Folder. Pretty much the same procedure as above, just need to have your pc on a wireless connection. Expand the folders in the file manager, use copy and paste the files into the share folder.

If all else fails, send via email as an attachment. I don't know if there is any other way, possibly with the usb cable...

Paps has some cool conectivity options that you could try.

However, the USB cable is the quick and simple way IMHO. Once connected via the USB cable, the internal memory card will appear as a new drive letter in windows explorer (Windows) or as a hard drive on the desktop (Mac). Works just like a USB thumb drive or card reader or camera connected to your computer. I'll add a quick note on the first post about this. Let us know if you get stuck.

Ah, ok. Sorry.

I'm more interested as a personal thing as I already have root and I'm a slight bit higher than a newbie.

I've done my own take on this bug for the Internet Tablet School site:

http://tabletschool.blogspot.com/200...d-on-n810.html

This should be easier to read for anyone who doesn't understand command lines.

Apologies if I sounded a bit undiplomatic in my first post in this thread.
