Yea, you got me there. But Google did announce that they would incorporate AIM connectivity if "certain conditions were met." I was just wondering if it happened yet...

Yes the Nokia does support 802.11g, my wireless network operates in g only mode but the speeds are somewhat short of 54mb/s.

All these features sound great but with the same paltry internal memory this thing is relegated to 3rd string. I still need my laptop and I still need my PDA and I still need my BT phone. Don’t get me wrong, I like having the tablet when Im on the road, I just wish I got to bring one less charger with me.

that's one reason I got a USB charger, one for a N70 series will work for the 770. it's one more cable, but I can plug it into the laptop if I have it, or take a power brick or 12v car plug if I'm not taking the laptop. kit came with the 12v and AC to USB adaptors.

extrootfs - How will OS2006 affect this?

Question for the 770 'gurus' out there -

I used wolframs script to (a) Extend Root and then (b) Create a 24MB swapfile on a 200MB partition on my 1GB RS MMC. Its been working great and I can have loads of aps open at the same time.

Does anyone know if upgrading to OS/iT2006 will:

(1) Wipe out this script and the operation of the swapfile
(2) Disbale R&D mode

In other words - will I have to 'become root' again (not just sudo gainroot but the whole shebang with the flasher in Linux), then re-install & run the extrootfs script? Will I need to repartition the RS MMC?

Thanks!!

New stuff not mentioned

I'm sad enough to look at the specs on the nokia site....

2006 vs the 2005 version shows a couple of new things....

1) * Option for extended virtual memory (RS-MMC up to 1 GB)
2) # Headphones (HS-61) now included
3) Brazilian Portuguese, Canadian French language support.

It will look like old typewrighter: single line for text.

Indeed the line:
"Option for extended virtual memory (RS-MMC up to 1 GB)"
Is very interesting indeed.

Exciting stuff, I must say.

I wonder if it will have any New Zealand cities in the clock now!

I just find it funny they missed a whole bloody time zone :)

Not hard to add it if they missed it. Go back to the threads about the last update and the problem that they had with the time zones. it tells you how to add additonal time zones to the 770. I know you'd rather have it be there stanard. I don't blame you.

Thats a nice theory. But the Treo I've been using for the last several years would argue differently, as would the limited use I've had with Window Mobile.
