I am still confused, if I buy one of these, can I get rid of Winsucks off from it and put Maemo on it?

There's a chance Mer may eventually run on the device, but I don't recommend buying one counting on it. The processor and many details are yet unknown, so it's difficult to predict what challenges might confront Mer developers. Additionally, even if Mer is eventually made to work with the device, it seems likely WiMAX support would be missing.

No. Maemo is only on Nokia tablets.

But, it remains to be seen whether or not Mer can be installed on it.

Maybe not: http://www.linux-magazine.com/online...d_mode_setting This wby no means guarantees we'll ever get WiMAX to work, but it probably makes it a lot more likely.

Thanks for that link. At least it shows a promising future for Linux WiMAX devices with Intel chips. And who knows, this Samsung device might just have a 5x50 chip hanging off an internal USB bus.

I'd rather Windows Mobile than have to learn something newly annoying. WM is the beast I know.

Which new thing are you referring to?

Mer? Mer is, as far as I know, just like Maemo. If you're not already familiar with Maemo, why are you on this forum? :-)

Samsung Mondi is now nearing release (01 Aug) with suggested price of US$450. Apparently VOIP isn't possible with the current setup?!

How long until WinSung refugees begin begging for a Mer port? Has Samsung ever supported any open source effort?
