Disabling swap at first start doesn't help.

Try to boot again (taking the battery out for some seconds). I have the same card and boot fails almost every other time. You should also do a filesystem check (fsck). I think a 1G card is enough, there's 200MB free space left for me.

Bundyo, do you have Fanoush kernel patch for sd?

I am going to try this out in virtualbox later today. Good work all of you!

It fails every time. I don't think removing the battery will help it even a bit.

What is the fanoush's kernel patch for sd? If you mean the 48MHz high-speed kernel patch - yes, I have it.

I did it with a 1 GB card on 770. the problem I had was that the swap partition was not recognised by the assistant : no Swap = no Mer on 770

Does the assistant ask you to confirm that it can use the swap ?

if not you have to set the type partition to S with sfdisk

Well; got it running with no biggie after a Mer installer update on the donated N810. Things worked pretty well for a while, but I ran into two issues:

- widgets in the status bar area seem to all be float:left; really makes it disconcerting when you have only 4 active, and the clock isn't right aligned. Customization is good, but eh... might be a bit too fluid in that respect.

- got a crash of Hildon desktop which pretty much rendered the device useless. There was nothing but the background on the screen. I'll have to see if I can reproduce it to better help there. Was running Midori over Wi-Fi with the slider closed at the time.

3. A tool to add items to the mer menu would be very nice. Even if it's just a cli app that takes a .desktop file and category as arguments and generates a menu entry it would be great since currently you have to launch jaunty software from xterm

1. Click the dialog or press Esc (the Back Button)

2. Control-panel item would be nice, but here's a workaround: Goto xterminal, type sudo nano /usr/bin/start-hildon, scroll to the end and remove line, that says something like "maemo-invoker blahblah /usr/bin/hildon-input-mehod"

3. Jaunty software are appearing in the Menu for me

Re: Mer 0.12 released

I am really enjoying the .12 release and have started playing around to see if I can find problems. Here are my questions:

1) Is there a way to make it so that the screen does not dim after 30 seconds. I do a lot of document reading and it dims before I can even finish a page.

2) If you enable maemo.org/Extras, DO NOT install gpesummary. It will give you an error about todo database not installed and then it will crash the desktop. I have tried it 3 times with same result each time. I sure am glad it is easy to reflash using the easy install.

3)Should we be installing applications from Extras and elsewhere using the default installer or apt-get? The default installer does not seem to handle dependencies. When I try to install Canola or advanced-power or some others, they give me dependency errors and do not install. Would synaptic work with MER ?

4) easy-deb-chroot gave me an error 'unable to install' but then when I looked, it appeared to have installed both easy-deb-chroot and easy-chroot packages.

5) There are packages that I had installed on my default OS2008 environment that are not showing up in the installable lists, is this because they are not in /user files as mentioned above?

If this is not the place to report all of these, please let me know. I cannot use #mer feature at work....

One question, though: There's some things that I'd expect to be known, like windows blocking each other or can't be closed, pre-installed applications not starting etc. ... would it still be useful to file "user-level bugs" (=I can describe what happens, but not why) about such things or would that only generate useless noise ATM because you're aware of these issues, anyway? (Or would rather have more qualified bug reports at this stage of development?)

Also, is the maemo bugzilla (product Mer) the preferred place for bug reports? Even for applications running on Mer but have errors?)

I have the same questions as benny1967. Should we file such usability bugs and small requests like "a restart option when hildon-desktop crashes" in maemo bugzilla
Also does bluetooth work on nokia 770? I don't seem to be able to turn it on.
