Re: Stantum Display on N900
This forum has been a SUPERB showcase of superstition, faith and mysticism in past few weeks.
People have generated chatters among themselves to fabricate new ideas, creating buzz and frenzy among themselves to heighten their own faith of it and scorning 'the gods above' when they realize their self made beliefs did not pan out as the prophecies they've made themselves. Please go on :) |
Re: Stantum Display on N900
I didn't think that simply to ASK confirm about some voices (just to prove its true or not!!) is "a SUPERB showcase of superstition, faith and mysticism in past few weeks. "
These voices are possible: Stantum is partnership with Nokia as display productor, Stantum produces new revolutionary resistive technological displays, sometimes not all hw is present on technical sheet of devices. For someone (like me) it's important to know what kind of display is present on N900, so...where is your problem? We don't talking about flying green pinky-dot donkeys... So ysss, please, reply to my answer if you can, otherwise don't go OT! Thank you |
Re: Stantum Display on N900
Stantum will display at the Symbian Exchange and Exposition
http://www.stantum.com/en/medias/latest-news?id=41 http://www.see2009.org/ Why doesn't someone ask them if there are any phones coming out with their touchscreen. |
Re: Stantum Display on N900
maybe send a mail to nokia asking about multitouch in n900 to get some answers
|
Re: Stantum Display on N900
There's NO stantum display.
Why do you think there might be one? Hope the N900 + 1 has one, which I already doubt. |

Nokia: Hey, check out our new phone! It does all this cool stuff... Apple: ...well, I can totally rotate my screen when you turn me. Amazing! Nokia: ...oh wait, so can we. ENABLE! (...eventually...) Perhaps (not wanting to fan the flames of mysticism) a good ol' teardown is in order? P.s, at SEE (see AAS's walkaround vid) the Stantum rep held up a touchscreen that was being used by 'one of its partners' - and the thing looked a lot like a production model to me. If anyone can get a close enough look at it, perhaps it could be used for reference? |
Re: Stantum Display on N900
There is no multitouch for the N900. (This shouldn't come as a surprise to anybody.)
For Stantum, I'm sure it is very fine technology, but there is a big difference between having working evaluation kits for your technology and between being able to deliver millions of touch panels in a low-total-cost package to some company. Do you know of any mass-volume product right now that would be using their display technology? |

Further, Stantum at SEE demonstrated an implementation of their tech by a licencee (sorry I have rewatched the vid now to refresh on the terminology) in a panel that looked like a production panel, before going on to demonstrate an evaluation kit. see from 6:40 here: (http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/news/...m_SEE_2009.php - also, check the size of the thing in his hand...) While I would not be surprised to see that there is no multitouch for the n900, I also think that there are a few facts that seem to line up nicely, and it is a cool thought to have. Nokia has put cool HW features to use only with significantly later firmware revisions, so the lack of implementation in Maemo5 of Multitouch in my mind isn't a 100% killer of this idea (maybe like 95%). Further, isn't that just the linux way?? (cf xkcd: http://xkcd.com/644/) Anyway - what else are we supposed to do while we wait for the device? talk about it *without* superstition, faith and mysticism?? pfft, that's BORING.. |
