Re: angry birds level number
@franny87, please refrain from such epithets, no-one here is encouraging piracy (on the contrary, we are very well behaved in this thread). It is such a big issue that Nokia needs to fix it asap, even if some of the users here actually download this for free, making rovio/nokia loose those $3 it is not such a great deal. If you make such mistakes you have to be ready to pay some price. Part of beta testing I'd say.

Re: angry birds level number
There is something strange going on with Ovi Store currently because Level Pack 1 does not come up with any searches, at least not for us. You can get still there with a direct link but is says "Free" on the page. Maybe that is the reason why it can be currently downloaded for free from the repository.
I have contacted Nokia about this already but I haven't received any information yet. Thanks all for your support about still buying the game, it's well appreciated. :) |
Re: angry birds level number
Good to hear that there's indeed some sort of security in place normally, and not simply security by obscurity.

Re: angry birds level number
Map pack 1 is now free in the Ovi store

Re: angry birds level number
I bought the level pack. But Ovi store responded that the purchase failed, yet charged my CC. The web interface is a bit glitchy. I still got to download the level pack, so I am happy :). I won't mind added security for commercial application if it means more polished software for the Maemo platform.

Re: angry birds level number
Indeed, the level pack is not visible in the ovi store. I never even knew it existed until this thread
I admit to shamelessly downloading music, movies and pretty much everything i wanted from the infamous corsair gulf ( ;) ) But this one, i would buy (if i like the game, which i can't test because no device yet). Actually, i would probably buy it even if i don't become a huge fan, just for encouragement. On the other hand, i do wonder how security will be enforced for these things. On normal phones, java apps aren't transferable simply because the system won't give me the option. But here, we have sudo... and if i'm not mistaken, there's also a command to repack a previously installed .deb Other than appealing to user's good will (they surely have mine), how will makers be sure we don't simply copy their work? Then again, this may turn out to be good for us, since we could check if the level pack is worth anything, or it's just a shameless racket EDIT: just noticed the level pack is in fact visible and costs 3 euros. I'm sure it wasn't there last night though |
