Yes I did have vpnc installed. I have now uninstalled it as I believed it caused the problem but the problem still persists. How would you go about fixing /etc/resolv.conf file exactly. I'm sorry but I am really new to this so any help is appreciated.

i'm in the same boat!

Just follow instructions over here. Very simple:
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...8&postcount=41

End of thread.

The only problem with following those instruction is that, if I understand it correctly, I need to be connected to a VPN to do this, which I am not at the moment. Is there any way to solve this without connecting to VPN?

Check that it is not your router issue - come to friend, starbacks etc and test. Switch OFF-ON both - N900 and router also may help.

Because it happened multiple times then people cries wolf but finaly it was something with router.

Not the router. Reproducible at my using my wife's workplace LAN as well as of 10 minutes ago.

lol ok we all seem to be in the same place..... ish...

Wifi is just not working...... In my case 3G internet works..... i assume others have the same (or 2g/3.5g etc)....

I can follow juaalto's steps up to and including 4 - but not 5 and 6 as i don't know how to create a file in linux/x-terminal?

I too can connect to 3g/2g internet and yes it is relatively slow (when compared to WiFi) which is why I would prefer to have it connected to WiFi. The expensive bit is not a problem as I have an unlimited web tariff but still, I don't want to stress the network if I don't have to.
