Despotify (the library on which these spotify clients are based on) supports only premium spotify accounts.

From despotify faq:

(updated: Spotify decided to block access for non-premium subscribers. We’re OK with it and won’t attempt to circumvent it)

We see a number of problems with providing an open source client for non-paying users and hence this implementation does not support it out of the box. Sorry!

Consider upgrading to a premium account to support not only Spotify, but also despotify’s cause of opening up their service to their paying (i.e, loyal) user base.

Yes, because Spotify restricts access from mobile phones to premium members (or something like that).

Re: Yaspot (spotify client)

what has happened... i can't install yaspot

update informed me one day that update cant be installed, so i tested to remove yaspot totally, and reinstall it again... but no luck

now when i try to install yaspot, install quits saying "cannot be installed" ..eventhough yaspot lists in installed programs after this, it can't be started. (to be more precise, program does not list out in programs list, but it's listed in application management - remove application list.)

help!! qtify is sooooo slow compared to yaspot :(

I had the same problem, and the solution was to install libdespotify, and that solved the problem.

Yaspot is working nicely for me, but pausing momentarily when the screen dims. This is a known Nokia problem and needs proper code from them, but until that time there is a workaround: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=503547&postcount=2. I hope the Yaspot developer implements it...

Re: Yaspot (spotify client)

Hello, and thanks for the kind words (about yaspot)! :) I have been slowly developing the app, and didn't really pay any attention to maemo forums or anything, so it was really nice surprise to find out that it has other users and users that like it!

I made some "final" touches to the UI and posted announcement, in this thread: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=43257

Also, I "optified" the package now, so I'd suggest you first manually remove the old version before installing the latest.

There's still a lot to do, and some quite major things I'd like to fix, but it's progressing, albeit slowly at the moment (need more time..)

Thanks again everyone, this thread made my day. :)

One quick question.
Do i understand correctly that only premium users can use this app?
If so, what do the app lack in terms of letting us accsess offline mode?

Keep up the good work! =)

Thanks in advance.

Re: Yaspot (spotify client)

Just wondering when these Spotify clients will actually be available? I mean out of Devel and into Testing and then to Extras?

I do have a paid Spotify account, so I'm waiting for Yaspot or Qtify to appear in Extras - I don't want to mess up my N900 with devel-stuff.

Would like some help with the UI graphics? The icons and stuff? I would love to help as long as I can find the time. DM me if you are interested.
