Games! Actually pretty much everything is better by having the 800x480 resolution.

To add to this thread, do not think of the n900 as a phone, think of it more as a miniature computer that just happens to make phone calls as well.

It's debian in a tiny box.

iPhone has a lot of gimmicks and tricks they use to make it seem like it's smooth. Apple is good at using transitions and neat effects to cover up actual slowness in the UI.

The Beauty of the n900 is that if there isn't an app for something specific, you can use pretty much any language (unfortunately no java) to write an app for it. If you can't write an app, I'm sure someone in the community would be glad to write one, or is already working on one.

This phone actually makes me want to learn how to program, so I can write something cool for it.

With the exception of the UI itself for the iPhone, I'm just not impressed by it. And the fact that Apple has turned into bigger *** clowns than Microsoft, makes me want to never even consider buying any of their products (I used to be indifferent, now I'm annoyed after all the lawsuits)

There is no disputing the scrolling is smoother on the iPhone.

I am just not convinced the touch screen type defines how smooth the scrolling is on these devices.

I don't think software is much of an issue when it comes to scrolling
Why don't you think it is software?

Here we go again with iphone vs other arguments.

To contribute to the author: Yes ive used a nokia store handset too and i concur. I didnt purchase the phone at first because of the horrible condition they keep their phones in. Mine crashed and restarted while i was looking through the menus and then nothing the very "helpful" store manager tried to explain to me the features of a phone he didnt understand. For a new joiner to the Linux tablet/Nokia world I was not impressed.

After following the progress of the community I finally upgraded with Vodafone (UK) and have loved it since.

Oh and as for the iphone vs nokia n900 - Iphone is a feature phone (as initially described by apple) and n900/other similar handsets are smart phones. end.
