Re: N900 auto time update
I had it working since buying the phone but about a year ago it stopped. "Life" carrier, UA. Maybe it's related to installing CSSU-Thumb.
GPS doesn't work for me if the time wasn't setup at all (it's somehow year 2000 after every battery switch). At least in some reasoble timeframe after starting. So I was thinking about writing a script that saves current time to disk on every shutdown and compares it to the system date after switching on. In this way I at least won't be having lots of SMSs on year 2000. |
Re: N900 auto time update
AFAIK the GPS can't get a fix unless the time is correct. If A-GPS server is not available either due to not having CSSU, not having the Nokia SUPL server in settings, no phone signal or WLAN the device cannot update the time.
Sounds like you need a new backup battery for your device. There are replacement capacitor types listed on here. http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=90864 |
Re: N900 auto time update
Did you remove package startup-wizard?
Mine also (again) looses the time but on boot this package asks for date/time so you can set it approximately. Better solution is to use 'ntpd'. This one updates your time settings to the millisecond. GPS should get a fix but it may take a long time (12 min and even longer) to download full almanach. One GPS package (gpsrecorder) is capable to sync device time with GPS time after fix. |
All times are GMT. The time now is 20:08. |
