Do we have a hacker who are up to this? It should be possible as Matan did it for the ApplicationApplets in this thread. But the ContactShortcuts seams to be in a different process..

I am not sure but the process that we are looking for is not called "ContactShortcut..." but "/usr/bin/osso-abook-home-applet". I found that out by putting a contactshortcut on the desktop and quickly look in "top". Then that process was started up.

Tell me please, after resizing of contact pictures here: /home/user/.osso-abook/photos, are you tried a leave the PNG suffix and putting the pictures back ?

Yes, i have tried both. It is not this. I have managed to resize the pictures and images but not the "space".

Did playing around with this today and it seems the device resizes the shortcuts so merely reducing the file size will not achieve the desired effect. All that will happen is that you will get your shortcut image being less clear because it has been blown up.

So any other ideas?

No, we need someone knowledgable to hack the hildon-desktop.. if this is decided there? It is hardcoded somewhere and it is not possible just to change the images.. me to have tried that.
