Got the same problem as well with my Yahoo..
At first i look into the settings and go back, voila, my email updated, but it doesn't work anymore,even after i reboot it..
any fix yet?

A thread has been started regarding email been deleted from the server when "Leave messages on server" has been ticked (can't find a solution though)

I've started a new thread which is linked to this one, but as this seems to have diverged a little bit I thought that keeping the two issues apart was useful. I have also created a bug report for the issue of hotmail not auto-checking emails. See the thread here:

Have been testing for some time now.
I use Nokia Messaging.
Do not sett the emailclient to "Update Automaticlly". This is for IMAP and POP and as I see it have nothing to do with Nokia Messaging.
Instead open Nokia Messaging and "Edit Account". There I have set mine to sync everyday between 06:00-23:00 and "Send and Recive" As Soon As Possible. I have also unchecked Sync Sent Items and Sync Drafts.
Now Nokia Messaging seems to get Pushes from the Nokia Messaging system and then the client sync not otherwise. But Sometimes some emails never get synced, so always check your hotmail on the web from time to time. And its not instantly syncing. So dont trust it 100%.

i am having the same issue....google mail updates and sends me notifications....hotmail has to be manually refreshed and lots of my emails are coming in upto 24hours late.

Is that still the case? It seems to have stopped working for me after a few hours (~8 or 9)
