Awesome again... someone rendered an iPhone4 design with Nokia elements and you go nuts...
To strap this discussion, it was said that n900 and maemo5 are step 4/5. So if Step 5/5 is giving you a hard time now this is all yours! You may argue if the follow-ups of step 5 are not compatible with step 5 but Nokia is already going in the direction to have all devices Qt compatible... in matter of hardware the next device wont suite the hardcore hacker geeks over here in maemoland anyway so why bother? We have Qt support for the programs and thats all that matters! Looking at the current MeeGo netbook release... if the handheld release is that much handheld as the netbook release is netbook... I don't want it as primary system. In the minute my warranty wears off the device will get everything it needs from myself, spareparts are cheap and easy to mount so this thing will last forever (in my case forever is 2-3 years!) |

I wondered how you could live with the failing device and let this people go and take salary from Nokia every month? Tell us we'll help you. |

The issues people have are majority software, these issues may or quite possibly may not be fixed by Nokia or the community. Talking about the possibilities and effectively dreaming up vapour ware wont help, it might even have an adverse reaction like continual pestering i a similar vein to the PR1.2 update. This community has always been relaxed and it has managed to achieve so much in being that way. I don't know if others' feel the same, but I prefer keeping an eye on the forum and blogs and being pleasantly suprised when something new and interesting comes out. But talking about the N900 getting MeeGo and everything being amazing and it being the bestest device for everyone in just a short couple of months, well, that is plain lies. And in regards to MeeGo and or MeeGo/Harmatten N900 adaptation, there are separate threads for those subjects already. What's this one about again? :P |

And looking at other posts in this thread, I guess I'm not the only person that have failed to see the point of your post. |

I love the N900 about 90% of the time and the 10% I just wonder where the power is going to. I.e. random slow downs and odd web crashes. I think I have managed a maximum of about 13 days uptime before I had to reboot because the phone became virtually unusable.
As for hardware, my USB port is fine as I have a Samsung charger I used (no point having loads of chargers lying around) and I *need* to charge everyday. I think the phone has a lot of potential and the USB issue aside, I don’t think there is a need for “another” device. I personally believe that the reason there are soo few apps is because the development process is soo bad. I think they should create an add-on for Qt for the N900 which will allow you to build and test the app in Qt, and when you ready hit the package button ready for deployment to Meamo repositories. Imagine how many developers would go for this platform if they could start developing without spending days and days googling?? I am neither a fanboy of Nokia nor a supporter. I have had phones from most of the different manufacturers and this phone was chosen as I needed a phone which I could change and make it behave like I wanted to do…even “do” the things I wanted to. If I can’t complete a development lifecycle soon for my “Hello World” program, I might be tempted to ditch Maemo for the Android platform…. But we shall see. I have spent a few weeks on this now and am determined to succeed! |
