will be buying a couple more once the second hand prices hit £200.
That's in this thread. I've seen other threads where folks have one, two... of the N900. Sorta surprising that folks are buying multiples.

So, it's a week since we last asked if you are still happy... are you still happy?

I'm not that surprised... if I see something I think is the key, that I use daily, and that it may be going off the market soon, which hits a reasonable price point, I sometimes buy a backup. I did that with my old Point 150. I used the crap out of that thing, and when I saw one with a bad backlight tube on ebay for $30, I snagged it. I've scavenged it for a replacement drive, it's touch pad, and a couple other parts over the years. If I had two, I'd have even more cool things going on on them. :)

I could easily see getting a second N900, if the price point hit the right value. It's still a little high for me right now, but if it goes below a yet to be determined threshold, I could see buying a second as a backup, and/or as a mini home server, etc. I'd be using my Neo for that right now if it were stable enough to not explode every 12 hours or so...

for me it is depressing: No one has announced a device that is better than N900 for me. I'll probably have to buy new N900 because I've promised myself one phone a year and I will not opt out.

it would be pretty good to have two: one that is for usage and another for triple boot android&meego etc...

I don't buy more than one refrigerator, nor other gadgets (computers do not count). And the secondary phone I have isn't even a feature phone, it's my boring replacement of a phone, a Motorola F3 that I keep around just in case.

Luckily a mobile computer such as n900 is not as big as a fridge and has myriad uses. I had two. Used the second for testing as well as media player for for kids with though. You can fit a bunch of cartoons in 48gb.

Just sold second n900 to try out some of these other devices. Main n900 is still my daily driver. Tried the Samsung vibrant and while it was vibrant in most aspects,it didn't suit me in SSH,jabber,or sip. So.now that is media player for kids and also more games for them on android although no angry birds.

Speaking to the issues of multitasking--well, that's what you get when you multitask on ANYTHING (be it Maemo, Android, desktop Linux, Windows, etc.). When you use up resources, you start to see it crawl. On Maemo, you would do well to remain cognizant of too many open apps. On Android, I never see a slow down because I have an App Killer monitoring my system for apps I want to permit multitasking all the time, and automatically time-out kills apps I don't permit to run in the background all the time. So, it manages FOR me even when I don't yet notice any slowness. Maybe there's a similar sort of "you're not really using this background app, do you want me to close it?" sort of tool for the N900? Or maybe someone could write one up. Would be terribly handy on a small system like this.

I'm not sure that the sentiment is entirely accurate about how buggy it is, but I will wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment about Maemo's WONTFIX and Nokia's neglecting customers. For all those people who claim that this isn't the place to complain, where else do you discuss the incredible WONTFIX and FIXED IN [next OS] issues, then?

Well, on Maemo multitasking issues is not cpu related but IO. The most hatefull thing is try to do something when music plays -- reading pdf/djvu, browsing or view maps.
Opening next page in evince/pdf viewer? Welcome to music jerks. Near me my wife with oooold ancient onetasked Palm T|X reads pdf among listening music without any jerks!

Regarding bugs: it's nice to have place where you can report and discuss bugs. But I wish these should be "real" bugs, while maemo has nasty bugs -- lame Input Framework, for example.
Or broken MfE with Google sync.
