This part, I agree with in general.

BUT the OP has already put his remark in a specific context. He was complaining about how apps are more expensive on maemo than on iPhone. You've misinterpreted his post.

I thought this elitist attitude is reserved for the mindless iSheep drones...

Ovi Store is located in Finland, so when you buy anything from it via credit card and you're not in Finland, your bank will charge you an international transaction fee. This may come as a surprise mostly to Americans because the other app stores sell from within the US.

When I was on Android, I also had to pay an international transaction fee when buying from Android market because I was in Germany and the market was selling from Switzerland.

Please consult your bank on transaction details before complaining about Ovi and whining here like $1 would ruin your life.

Oh come on, let's put this in perspective.

For something that sells for $0.99 on competitor's platform (Angry bird with all level pack on AppStore, ALL FEES INCLUDED); Ovi sells it for $5.97 (3 level packs @$1.99).

ON TOP OF THAT, you may get charged $1.50 (yes, this itself is already more than the competition's total price) per item (or transaction?) because the appstore is only located in .fi.

This brings the total price more than 10x iPhone's price.
($5.97 + $4.50 = $10.47) vs $0.99

With markups that exorbitant, how can you not see that they're bloody expensive?
