That is strange.. as that are not happening to me. Maybe you could try to change it to one or two weeks instead? Somehow you didn't do it correct. Someone mentioned you need to do it as a user..

I guess you want your gprs to work only not do any updates...

I did it as root!!!

But now there is no more HAM.

I can't test if it works with "user".

Perhaps I should have done it as "user".


My problem now: qtwol has also gone.

Deleting the connection or manual connection is no solution:
It updates as soon as I connect.

nope. do you really want to manually update n+1 things? n900 is for 24/7 online flatrate data connections. perioid.

I would like to know why the iptable script doesn't work.
The author of the original script writes that the line:
$IPTABLES -A OUTPUT -o $INET_IFACE -p tcp --dport 80 -m state --state NEW -j ACCEPT

was necessary for sources.list to download.

If I use this line only for wlan0 and not for gprs0 it should block download for 3D shouldn't it?
it allows output of tcp packages to destination port 80. (everything is blocked by default at first and gradually all the ports needed are opened in the script)

e: and if you block port 80, you will have one helluva poor internets experience (read=not working)

no, you would check for updates of everything at once, but just when you want to instead of way too often automaticly

In my eyes a GPRS or 3D flat is a nonsense.

I'm working day and night on my n900 and 250MBytes are more than enough. (5$)

A flat for WLAN is useful when you are at home.
The n900 is brilliant in switching to the right network automatically.
It does it in the right moment without any help.

For the moment I have the problem that I have also no flat at home.

But without HAM I can even live without any flat.

In my eyes a GPRS flat is only for snobs.
There isn't any realistic use for it.
(You can download films at home and watch them during your trip.)
