When the same thing happened to my Lenovo T61 notebook half a year ago (it received a sticky Campari longdrink shower) and wouldn't power on afterwards, I disassembled it, cleaned the parts as good as I could and put the parts to dry on the radiator over night (except for the battery of course!). And voila: after reassembling it the other day, I found it to be alive again and it hasn't failed since :)
