Did you try with browser on the foreground?

Yes, I did, following your update. Still cannot reproduce. Let me try again after 5 minutes...

EDIT:
Yes, I can reproduce it. With Browser in the foreground. If I let the screen sleep for long enough (at least the period defined in Settings -> Device lock -> Automatic locking. Regardless of whether the locking was "automatic" or not.

Excellent!

Raised an issue about it; bug-unlocking-device-with-swipe-to-right-does-not-always-go-to-events-screen

Re: Sailfish 3.0.0.5 Lemmenjoki EA

Even if the device does not get locked, the behaviour seems different.

Actual case
1. Open any app (other than browser) in foreground
2. Swipe down and tap on lock icon
3. Double tap or push power button to unlock
4. You are presented with the lock screen to either swipe left or right

Buggy case
1. Open browser in foreground
2. Swipe down and tap lock icon
3. Double tap or push power button to unlock
4. Browser magically opens, skipping the lock screen

OK, then that must be a separate bug as my device works like the "Actual case" even with browser :)

Interesting. My device behaved as in "actual case" as well, just now.

Although I could reproduce the "buggy case". Looks like, the "buggy case" I mentioned happens only after the bug you reported is executed at least once. Open browser in foreground, double press lock button and then unlock and swipe left and instead of events view browser opens (the actual reported bug). Now if you try the "buggy case" I mentioned, it behaves just as mentioned.

Re: Sailfish 3.0.0.5 Lemmenjoki EA

actually there is one more bug related to apps opened in foreground but already reported by me to Jolla.
Open app for example Messages
Lock the screen
Unlock the screen by double tap
Open menu by swiping from the bottom (on the lock screen)
Try to open Messages by taping Massages app icon. On the first tap nothing happening. On the second tap you can see opened app.

So it looks like they have some problems with opened apps and lock screen.

thks.

Foreground tasks are tasks that are visible to the user. In mobile environment, where tasks tend to run on full screen, only one task can be in the foreground.

Background tasks are all other tasks. It could be any other application that is not currently shown on the screen, or it could be a daemon or a service that does not even have a screen. Which one it is depends on the context.

pichlo 2018-11-15 20:28

Re: Sailfish 3.0.0.5 Lemmenjoki EA

@atlochowski, I can confirm that too. At first I thought, what on earth is he on about, a swipe from the bottom in the lock screen opens the camera! But then I found you can switch that off ;)

that was new for me, thank you very much.

Re: Sailfish 3.0.0.5 Lemmenjoki EA

Just a question: Has anyone else noticed that while connecting to car multimedia devices the contacts are no longer sent automatically? This still worked in 2.0.5.6. Since then, I've tried 2.1.3.7 and, recently, 3.0.0.8 on a Nexus 5. Actually, when I upgraded from 2.1.3.7, I had hopes for this to have been fixed.

A "bonus" problem unrelated to 3.0.0.8: The Bluetooth hands free profile produces unintelligible audio on the Nexus 5 (A2DP works fine, though). Has this problem come up elsewhere? Any ideas how to find a fix?

Re: Sailfish 3.0.0.5 Lemmenjoki EA

My contacts are sent okay. In fact Bluetooth connection to my car works better.

pichlo 2018-11-17 09:26

Re: Sailfish 3.0.0.5 Lemmenjoki EA

I found the exact opposite. Contacts are sent ONLY automatically. When I sync them manually, they are cleared from the car and that's it. I need to wait until I leave the car and come again, when they sync automatically.

How exactly do you sync them manually? I tried sending a vcf directly which my car flatly refused.

So So So,
3.0.0.11 surfaced on 20181203 already.
Anyone noticed a difference to 3.0.0.8?

Ahh, now the big question is should I update and botch my uptime of 24 days? :D

OTOH I could of course update via console and not reboot it. I assume depending on what's changed it could be enough to just restart lipstick, right? ;)

@mosen can you share what packages were downloaded when you did the update?

Ooh, sorry I did not notice it was a link!

So, seems that there is quite a bit changes in the lowlevel packages (at least the droid-config-* set I think) which means rebooting is probably necessary to get the device to sane state.

Huoh, I'll have to say goodbye to my uptime then... :p

Understandable, I felt the same after reading this:

Sailfish OS 3.0.1 and Sailifsh X Schedule Update
This is a schedule update for the next Sailfish OS release, 3.0.1 “Sipoonkorpi”. We have continued working on this release as the year moves forward and the Sailfish OS 3.0.1 will be released in early January. The commercial release of Sailfish X for XA2, including the Android apps support, will follow soon after the 3.0.1 release is fully released and rolled out.

Bummer!

android apps support for XA2 will follow soon after 3.0.1?? which one ? android-legacy? or android-obsolete? or the new one android-pie! what year? 2020? 2025? 3030?

Good things are worth waiting.
Also for wider public android 8.0 support is crucial.
All apps with pay , like bustickets etc. require this.

Development of UBPort isn't exactly fast as well. Yeah, it's a small team and all that. Apart of the annoyances of UBPort (e.g. the single task mode of operation, unless in desktop mode) I'm not holding my breath on getting decent support on newer devices anytime soon.

I'm quite bummed about the latest delay of SFOS as well. I just bought the XA2 in anticipation of using it soon.

currently status of s.f is terrible specially with xperia x the which is the main device to use the o.s it has a lot bugs and features missing. example of many: since xperia x is supported ,i am not using a simple sd card, because the os has bug to detect correctly some s.d. bluetooh is terrible ,browser terrible, nfc does not exist, not gpu ,cpu still bugged, wlan is bugged, i lot more for sureee.

Re: Sailfish 3.0.0.5 Lemmenjoki EA

and you think a minor update will make a complete new experience???

By the way, I have no problem with my SD card. Bluetooth is still not good but has improved so far that I can live with it. Browser is somewhat outdated, but far away from terrible and there are alternatives like Webcat. WLan works without any problems for me.

...I think you are a little bit exaggerating.

Runs on what exactly? There is no Android support on the XA2 yet, and it has been postponed again, at the eleventh hour, again.

Also, I tried to refrain from starting a browser war again, but sheesh! Given Google's track record, why anyone would use Chrome for anything is beyond me, but on Android it's even worse, as Google simply won't implement support for using extensions in Chrome for Android. One really must hate online privacy, to use Chrome on Android, I guess.

I haven't counted on "soon" to be december 2018.

This comment was because some ppl complain about browser ln any SF device.

Factory reset next or is my device bricked?

Do you have already tried to reboot? if yes, try recovery mode. If you can reach your device via ssh, try you can finish the upgrade via
Code:

version --dup
There are very good chances that you don't need a factory reset.

You likely hit the bug "Sailfish 3.0 update" (which is already "Tracked by Jolla"), look there for details and instructions.

BTW, do follow Jolla's guide how to upgrade SailfishOS at the command line in detail, including the section "Final clean up"!
