Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
Had problems installing libidn but after finally sorting the first visited site facebook loaded ok but couldnt sign on. Finally gave up trying.

Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
Hey, I just want to say that I like the way the zoom is working. It allows Internettablettalk to be legible without the slow "fit to screen" feature that is in the microb browser.

Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
Here reporting that Tear works ok also with Chinook, which I still run for my day-by-day usage. Thanks guys. Its webkit as quick as debian midori.

Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
It also no more crashes, if i click another link while it's still downloading the current page.

Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
I've tried it, uninstalled using standard maemo UI, but battery drains quickly. Is it something which can be left? How can I remove libidn11? Thanks.
|
Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
There's nothing in it that can drain the battery. Maybe when you ran it it left a hanging process? A restart or killall tear from terminal will fix that.

Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
@Bundyo: Is the source code for Tear 0.3 and any changes you made to webkit available somewhere? I'm really interested in getting this building nicely in Mer as a proof of concept (and as a day-to-day browser!) but I can't seem to find the source code...

Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
Okay, I have some features to finish and will upload it to garage. It doesn't freeze now (though I resorted to use static arrays). I also added a feature or two (including small dashboard).

Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
sounds interesting. have you found out whats wrong with the CSS support?
|
Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
No, tried to compile it in sb2 and succeeded (without interruptions like in sb1) but the result is not working at all :) Still trying though.

Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
It is actually very strange. WebKit parses only the first three alphanumerics in RGB color values. For instance #369 works, but #369FFF - no. Sometimes it just ignores the last 3 alphanumerics and sometimes it renders #FFF (white)... If someone met something like that - please do tell. Maybe something to do with the parser , but then why everything else works...?

Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
and for some reason, the webkit used by webkit-eal works, from what i can tell...
|
Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
Yes... that's true. That keeps me going.

Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
Okay guys, there were actually two problems - Scratchbox 1 and the last releases i tried to build in SB2 - the newest one - 40239 compiles in SB2 and runs fine and the backgrounds are there :) So expect a release soon. Another good news is that since it builds okay in SB2, maybe it will build okay and go to extras.
SVG support also runs fine, since I use it for the Dashboard. |
Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
woho! i cant wait!
oh, i almost forgot. found a fix for that scroll tearing issue? |
Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
Which one? :)
But I know what is the problem with the simple theme of ITT in WebKit - the rounded corners are rendered quite slow... |
Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
so thats why its being so bothersome to scroll?
|
Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
Probably, I decided to drop rounded corners in the Dashboard for that reason.
|
Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
hang on, there are no rounded corners on the forums minimalist theme....
|
Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
These are applied on every UL:
-webkit-border-bottom-left-radius: 8px 8px; -webkit-border-bottom-right-radius: 8px 8px; -webkit-border-top-left-radius: 8px 8px; -webkit-border-top-right-radius: 8px 8px; On top of that there is browser detection - these styles are not loaded in Gecko. |
Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
i stand corrected ;)
maybe someone should report the theme issue? not that i have seen any reaction there lately... bah, ill make a entry in the proper thread. |
Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
ugh, the more i try to use tear, the more im reminded about my dislike for kinetic scrolling...
i drag, come to a stop, release, and the page goes flying. bascally, i cant get a feel for the force needed to set things in motion, i either apply to much or to little... also, the back and forward keys are on the wrong side of the bar imo. and until the load line starts showing, there is no indication that a link tap got registered. and i wonder if a link tap while the page is loading will make tear hang... |

Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
thing is that its a repeat experience, from mauku to tear, i keep having the scroll run off on me when i think it has stopped dead...
|
Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
Yes, kinetic scrolling is annoying, but people seem to want it :)
|
Re: Tear 0.2 - a simple maemo WebKit browser.
fashion whores :p
they can have it, as long as there is a option to turn it off ;) |
